I suggest the inclusion of the French guitarist Christian Boulé. he was a member of Clearlight and also of the band of Steve Hillage and published 2 solo albums, "Photo Musik" and "Non-Fiction". both sound a lot like solo work of Steve Hillage (with better keyboards though). the first is a little better than the second, and I would rate "Photo MusiK" 4 stars and Non-Fiction 3.

Photo Musik (1977):

1. Elastic Minute 4:08
2. Photo Musik 2:44
3. Crystal Palace 7:27
4. 22 Broad Street 4:25
5. Radio-Arc-en-Ciel 2:32
6. 5eme Ocean 2:37
7. Aqua Deva 2:57
8. Inter Galactic Cosmic Triolet 4:03
9. Orange Climax 7:38
Bonus tracks (on CD only):
10. Comet Hotel 3:07
11. Estella Futur 3:56

Musicians:

Christian Boulé : guitar, glissando guitar, synthi EMS, radio, bubbles, harmonica and flute
Cyrille Verdeaux : grand piano, organ, electric piano, micro Moog, tambourin, tubular bells
Jacky Bouladoux : drums, percussions
Patrice Congas : bass
Jean-Pierre Thirault : sax alto, soprano
Ian David Jelfs : vocals on “Crystal Palace”
Géraldine André : vocals “Radio arc-en-ciel”, “5e océan”, tenor sax “Aqua deva”
Andy Slatin : vocals

Boule, Christian - Non-Fiction CD

Non-Fiction (1979):

1. Non-Fiction (4:08)
2. Chance (4:19)
3. Psychedelik (4:24)
4. Magic Fanfare (5:02)
5. L.I.F.E. (3:51)
6. Glissader Aquarian (4:06)
7. Viva da New Sound (8:50)
Bonus Tracks (on CD only)
8. Synthetic Lover (4:51)
9. City Close (4:53)

Musicians:

Chistian Boulé: guitar, glissando guitar, synthesizer, vocals
Andy Slatin: vocals 1-7
Patrice Congas: bass 1-7
Jack Bouladoux: drums, percussion 1-7
Jean-Philippe Rykiel: keyboards 1-7
Jean-Pierre Thirault: sax 1-7
Gerard Ansellem: sax on 4
Xavier Baulleret: guitar on 7
Yves Lannes: keyboards
Geraldine Andre: voices on 7
Tim Blake: keyboards on 8
Charlie Doll: drums on 8
Diane Kone: bass on 8

Explanatory notes for the entry of Christian Boulé:

Christian Boulé was guitar player for Clearlight and also played in the live band of Steve Hillage. He published two solo albums with a mixture of space rock and fusion; the 2nd also included some funk elements. He died in the year 2002.

Half those albums are very good, and the other half is too straight for my
tastes. Pity, as the best material on them is great (and bound to delight
STEVE HILLAGE fans).

BJ,

You got my agreement to put them albums on!

BTW: Have you added Mothergong yet?

prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen

I have problems finding the cover art for some of the Mother Gong albums, since they are sadly out of print; else I would have added them long ago

I think that Photo musik is a lot better than Non fiction. Only my opinion anyway.

I'd give "Photo Musik" 4 stars and "Non-Fiction" 3. I'm not so keen on the funk elements in "Non-Fiction"; others might like them though. but both albums are worth listening to

Photo Music features some cheesy moments, but there are also great cosmical moments. I can remember 3 excellent pieces. While non fiction features only one good piece with good guitar, but it already sound "80's" with a big drumm (in the pejorative sense of the world).

Photo musik is much more inspired than "non fiction" IMO.
