| I'm not sure. I find both songs great and not so sure at the same time. Mostly, if we are talking about the original studio versions... in that case I guess the vote goes for Heart of the Sunrise. But from 21st Century I like much better the Ausbury Park (USA) version, and from Heart of the Sunrise I like better the ABWH version... however, in this case, I guess my preference goes to Schizoid Man. |

Heart of the Sunrise is a bit of a mess for me. Great parts but the structure isn't cohesive enough to me. 21st Century Schizoid Man is a good KC rocker; not something I'm compelled to spin too often though. Good tracks, both bands did better stuff IMO. "Heart of the Sunrise" can be gorgeous, but it has these noodly bits that feel unnecessarily jarring and I do think it would be better if it were more cohesive and elegant. As a teenager when Fragile ranked amongst my favourite albums, I made a mix tape (double cassette player) where I tried to edit it to make it sound better to my ears. I vote for "21st Century Schizoid Man". It's not off an album that I've spun much for many years, but I do still dig it now and then. I do put that on a mix CD at one time, sandwiched between "Peaches en Regalia" and "Free Hand" as I recall. That song played a significant role in me getting back into progressive rock and exploring it more deeply. ------------- Just a fanboy passin' through. |

yeah that is some major league stuff man.. nice poll but Heart of the Sunrise still absolutely smokes 21st Century S.M in everything but not having Lake's awesome vocals.. but very little.. and not a damn thing by Crimson can stand against the 4 headed Squire, Howe, Wakeman, Bruford monster when on its game and this might have been the single best 'song' they did. ------------- The Pedro and Micky Experience - When one no longer requires psychotropics to trip |
