I was going to include Rick Wakeman's lady of the lake but it's only 35 seconds long. Also, I thought about "ladies of the road" but already had "lady of the dancing water" and didn't want to open up the flood gates to "ladies" songs.

Also, I know some of these aren't really prog but they are all still bands on progarchives so if you chose "other" pleanse make sure it's a band on this website.

damn right it is awesome Ken..  if you liked that one.. you might check out 'The Park' from the same album.

However Uriah Heep was pretty heavy...  I would recommend Salisbury from which both songs came from (and one of my first prog albums that exposed me to prog as a kid)... but it and U.H. rocked pretty hard.

Should that song really be mentioned in a prog forum though? Sure, it's good and it's arguably the first disco song but it's not even prog related. Ok, I'll admit those costumes are pretty prog but that's about it.Tongue

Posted By: kenethlevine
Date Posted: April 15 2018 at 09:06
^ probably not...and if it's from 1975 it's nowhere near the first disco song, since 1974 was full of disco if not earlier.

Posted By: AFlowerKingCrimson
Date Posted: April 15 2018 at 09:08
Actually, according to wikipedia it was released in November of 1974. But yeah please list all those examples of disco before this. Maybe some Barry White but otherwise really not much pure disco imo. And no "love train" is NOT disco.

Posted By: kenethlevine
Date Posted: April 15 2018 at 09:13
wouldn't beegees "Jive Talkin' be disco?  Definitely Barry White and Love Unlimited Orchestra.  George McRae's "Rock your baby" was the #1 song of 1974.

"Green eyed lady" is sort of an early prog song isn't it? Or at least proto prog. There weren't many really true US prog bands at that time so I guess that would be as close as any of them.
