There is a plethora of interesting albums from these guys, some of them may even deserve five star rating, as far as I'm concerned. Lot to choose from, but which one is the greatest of them all? No Phil Collins or 'So', let's keep it closer to prog rock.

Sidenote: at first I went with a full list of 25 LPs, but then I realized some of them have a miniscule chance of cracking TOP5, let alone be voted as the best. I really wanted to keep it trim and limit myself to only undisputed heavyweights, so pardon me if your favorite isn't included. If that's the case, please select 'Other' and post what you consider the best, with your reasoning (applies to all) Big smile

From this list: Fish > Voyage > Olias > Spectral > Melt

Worth including: Wise after the Event by Anthony Phillips, which I should place between the first two.

From this list: Melt > Fish > Geese
Missing from the list, I have special fondness for Anderson's Animation and Tony Bank's A Curious Feeling.

I love a lot of these albums---but listen to One of A Kind more than the others---along with Spectral and Voyage

Lots of great albums there and it hurts not to pick Voyage of the Acolyte or Spectral Mornings.  But this is still a no brainer for me: Bruford's One of a Kind is exactly that.

"Olias of Sunhillow", "Vollage of the Acolyte" and "The Geese and the Ghost" are tied for the first place, and the rest are right next to them, very, very close.

The correct answer is Olias Of Sunhillow!!!

Too hard of a choice between Wakeman and Hackett, so went with Geese and the Ghost, one of my favorite albums of all time.

Oh wow, I didn't think it'll be so close! It's basically a four-way tie and only 1 voter picked "Other". It looks like we have a true heavyweight division of albums!

I had one LP in mind when I did this poll but now I'm not sure anymore. Perhaps I'll revisit some of these albums on Sunday to provide more refined, up-to-date opinion. Keep on voting!

Out of the ones I have heard Olias is my favorite with Voyage being my second favorite maybe(although fish and geese are really great too). I won't vote though since I haven't heard all of them.

Out of the ones I know, it's Myths and Legends, easily. One of my favourite albums overall. And Wakeman is my favourite solo artist of the bunch (one of the responsibles of me getting into prog, even before I knew prog existed as a genre / sub-genre).

I did Chris Squire-Fish out of Water... But had this been different, I would've loved to pick Mike Rutherford's Smallcreep's Day.  For some reason I just LOVE that album.  Speaks to me, I guess.

Don’t have Gabriel’a or Squire’s, but heard them. The rest is a very strong selection - I’m going to go with Olias. That one is 45 minutes in another world !!

Voted Spectral Mornings. I don't think of Bill Bruford's first two Earthworks albums as Yes/Genesis solo albums but if they qualified, I'd probably chose one of them.

It's Squire's Fish', man. I am surprised Gabriel's second album isn't here to round out things a little (I don't endorse referring to his albums by those silly little nicknames; so preciously twee).

I admit I had a problem with Peter. I could've axed one of Rick's albums, but they are all getting some votes and perhaps are closer to consensual 'progressive rock' sound.

The other reason was deciding on just one LP from Gabriel's career. Posters in this thread asked for either 2nd album (let's say "Scratch") or "Last Temptation", while Progarchives has his 4th album ("Security") very high. Personally, I really enjoy his debut ("Car") and non-progressive "So". So yes, it's hard to pick one, especially with artist somewhere on progressive music/world music/pop borders.

But everyone loves "Melt", as I do, so I thought this is a no-brainer.

One of a Kind, my a##! I love Bruford as much as the next fan, but 'Kind is not worthy to unfasten the sandals of 'Acolyte or 'Mornings' feet.”
