Nektar's debut is a stupendous creation. Aside from that, they're pretty uneven. Roye Albrighton is an excellent talent. But Jan Akkerman is the third best guitarist ever, and Focus was more consistent. So, Focus. ------------- A curse upon the heads of those who seek their fortunes in a lie. My limited familiarity with both groups forces me to consider this as a Moving Waves vs Journey To The Centre Of The Eye poll. I like Moving Waves, but Journey To The Centre Of The Eye is a very special album to me, indeed one of my all-time favourite albums, so it gets my vote without hesitation. ------------- No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. | These bands play a similar form of music from the same era, so this is a decent poll. I also think that Roy Albrighton and Jan Akkerman are fairly similarly (highly) talented guitarists. Both bands have extended suites that are highly musical, with good singers, but have lyrics that are often cliche. Nektar has a larger discography of high quality music, but I voted 'both equally'. |
