Thought this would be a good match up. One of Tull's best against one of Rush's best.

Not a huge fan of either, but gonna vote aqualung, really don’t like the last two tracks of moving pictures, aqualung is solid

And yet another close one, but Aqualung takes the edge.  Now if it was between Aqualung and Farewell to Kings, then it would be a different story.

Really tough to make the call, but because I listen to it more now I'll go with Moving Pictures.

I have listened to Aqualung tons more than Moving Pictures... maybe tomorrow I would vote for Tull?

Difficult but MP is a perfect record, Aqualung almost but not quite.

Aqualung, and it's not even vaguely close.

Aqualung.  Rush is not even in the same league as Tull.

Moving Pictures. Jethro Tull will never mean as much to me as Rush, and MP is one of their most enthralling albums. Aqualung's great from start to finish though.

Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

Aqualung is a fantastic album. A+++. One of the greatest concept albums ever written. Brilliantly written, perfectly crafted, and superbly delivered.

But Moving Pictures is my all time #1.

Aqualung for me. Rush reached their peak with Hemispheres and then there was a noticeable decline in quality. I do like post-hem Rush, but it's not the same...

This one is difficult, since both are great indeed. I guess I should choose Moving Pictures, since on Aqualung I actually prefer every song on a live or alternate version.

Apples and Oranges!

Eighties 'Revisionist' Prog versus Blues/Prog Crossover

Both have each have 2 of the greatest pieces of the 20th century but overall will always be Rush. For me the top five Rush albums beat anything by Tull including TAAB.

Stlll an easy pick, like most polls in this series so far. I like Aqualung, but it could be better matched up against Caress of Steel or A Farewell to Kings to make this one harder. Moving Pictures for me.

Not a fan of these binary polls which is why I always(or almost always)include a "both equally" option. For this one maybe aqualung but it's too close and really I like both about the same so no vote for me.

Aqualung is the best that Tull released, there is very little that does not work on Aqualung, easily my fav JTull release ever.
But Moving Pictures changed Rush forever, it brought all they were doing into one concise release especially during a time that rock music was changing, for the worst. Punk was taking over and the new wave stuff was coming on strong, traditional rock and especially progressive rock was dying if not dead already, so releasing another Hemispheres, CoS or even Aqualung made no sense in 79/80.

If you watch Rush interviews and documentaries they were beyond surprised at how the public took to Tom Sawyer, a simple song but yet super hard to play right.
Moving Pictures is more seminal than Aqualung will ever be to the over all rock world. It is a better album too.

How can this be even close?  Tull outclass Rush in every department - even more so on this pairing.  Jeez!

I'm not surprised its close, I expected it to be further apart with JTull in lead due to when that album was released, the epitome of the prog era. Neither album is more prog than the other, all the songs stand on their own easily, Aqualung has more of a concept to it than MP.

Confused Class??? Rush are one of the most respected bands ever, with a high level of class towards not only other bands but the industry itself as well as reviewers. Moreover they were highly respectful of each other.....

I am sorry, but in every aspect - musicianship, vocals, lyrically, etc. Rush are nowhere near Tull.  Having said that, 'Aqualung' is not really a prog album.  I will also concede Tom Sawyer is possibly Rush's finest hour...
