I really love all of these albums, however Animals is simply perfection to my ears. The only album that could beat that in my books is Foxtrot by Genesis

Is there a link between these albums? If there is I don't see it.

This. While I don't dislike Animals it's probably not even in my top 3 PF albums. Maybe top 5 at around number 5. Relayer on the other hand is probably my favorite Yes album with CTTE being a close second.

Animals-despite it's cynical perspective, it stands as a really together album, one of Floyd's best.

Power wins

-------------
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

All four truly outstanding albums.

Animals does indeed seem impossible to top, but I have a very special place in my heart for Relayer.

Animals and P&TG are 5 star albums
Relayer and NC maybe 4.5 stars for me.

I gave my vote to GG as it looks as they need it. Also that is my favourite album by them while Animals is my second favourite Floyd album after WYWH.

Animals, very closely followed by Relayer.

Then, Nursery Cryme and P&TG.

Hard to choose between Relayer and Nursery Cryme, but it has to be Yes by a short head. Animals is in third.

It's Relayer by a length.

Most relaxing and best sounding - Animals
Most extravagant and bombastic - Relayer
Most spellbinding and inspiring - Nursery Cryme
Most ambitious and complex - The Power and the Glory

Hmm. I know! I'll go with Gentle Giant this time! Big smile

The Power and the Glory, though all are wonderful and worthy of many listens for years to come. I guess I voted in this already a while ago but never commented.

That GG is just one of my favorite albums ever. But it was up against my pick for best PF, and probably my favorite Yes as well.

Nursery Cryme - Genesis .. the only thing that lets it down is its terrible production .. sounds cheaply recorded. Confused

Toss up between Relayer and Nursery Cryme, but I have to vote for NC as it is the first prog album I ever heard, and that led me to buying Genesis Live and the rest is history.

EDIT - just noticed I already commented in this over a year ago! (however it let me vote again).

4 great albums indeed.

Nursery Cryme is fantastic, but still not quite peak Genesis. The Power And The Glory is fun and addictive, but not quite up to the greatness of some others here. Relayer is a excellent record, though the rather treble heavy production and rather inaccessible nature of the compositions holds it back for me. Animals is.... the greatest thing Floyd ever did, barely beating DSOTM.

I go with Floyd.

-------------
Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

The Power and the Glory, Relayer, Nursery Cryme and Animals in this order.

Animals is overrated IMO, it doesn't sound as progressive/psychedelic as many people say. It's mostly blues with a touch of progressiveness. Nothing compared to the insane Gates of Delirium, for instance.

Voted Relayer but this was quite a challenging poll, Animals and Power and the Glory both gave it a run for its money. Nursery Cryme was the obvious fourth for me, but it wasn't far off by any stretch of the imagination.
