HAPPY NEW ZEUHL!
For the new year totally obscure and mysterious band from France. It looks like they made albums from 1995 to 2006. Head of the band is Stéphane Marcaillou (vocals, guitars, compositions).
Their only known on YouTube album "Cellule de Crise" from 2006 is interesting example of Magma-like Zeuhl with big emphasis on acoustic and vocal elements. It's even "anti-brutal" and dreamy, ethereal Zeuhl, but played with big technical skills and great growing compositions. Violin is interesting addition, shining with many fragments, often combining vocal lines and percussion background, into a whole (with addition of gentle piano). The second side has more characteristic transe passages (also with important vocals, but with more emphasis on instrumental side). From what I've heard it's similar a bit to tracks from Zig Zag and Christian Vanders projects but here there're more influences from traditional French chants.
band mambers (from RYM): Stephane Marcaillou (guitar, vocals), Mélanie Fossier (vocals), Sophie Perret (piano, vocals), Bita Rezvannia-picot (violin, vocals), Jean-Pierre Albert (drums), Stephan Garcia (bass)
