Roy Harper. Very poignant for me, as I retired from competitive cricket last year after a 55 year career. And I never achieved my lifetime's ambition of getting a century, despite getting past 90 on 12 occasions. I just hope I've got a few years before I "leave the crease" permanently and I promise I won't go back and haunt any of my old clubs! ------------- A TVR is not a car. It's a way of life. |

Some others that came to mind are Izz's 42 which refers to Jackie Robinson of baseball fame and Major Parkinson's Baseball, Rick Wakeman's G'Ole, and Stackridge's Anyone for Tennis? -------------

I knew I had missed a few: notably Kraftwerk!! I know this will upset many, but I still can't think of Rush as being 'prog' so their ditty about marathons never entered my thought process! As for Nick Mason's 'Fictitious Sports', none of the songs on it relate to sport! I had considered ELP's 'Fanfare for the Common Man' as that has been used by many a sports teams in grounds and stadiums over the years but again, it is not about 'sport'. |
