The best examples I can give is Illusion's "Face of Yesterday" and "Madonna Blue", which not only feature a wonderful vocal, but beautiful classic piano (and I think violin).. I pick the 1970s because I can't stand the production (among many other things) afterwards.

It's SO difficult to research this, because all you get back is "classic rock".. I varied my searches, and only got bands like King Crimson, and I heard one song, and couldn't stand it. I don't think prog necessarily means 15 minutes of dicking around, either.

Anyway, I really appreciate this. I've found some fine music on here, and would be more than happy to share recommendations for things you are searching for.

Renaissance?

you can find a lot of piano parts on the earlier albums I think (although I'm no expert on them)

Curved Air - Metamorphosis might also be worth a listen

I've gone through Renaissance, and although I love high register vocals, I'm not the biggest fan of Annie Haslem, but there are a few songs I do like by them... I don't know much of Curved Air, but the few songs I've heard, I liked.

Hi,

Check out the remaster of the last album by Sandy Denny with FC ... and there is a version in there of her doing the song in piano and her voice only ... and it is better than what is on the album, and ... even scary ... it's a real prayer. It's almost as if she knew her time was up.

Hi,

Nope.

On the RISING FOR THE MOON is a second version of "One More Chance" that is very good, and many times I think it is better than what FC did for her song (which is fabulous!).

On the piece you had there are bits and pieces that became a part of the piano she played for "One More Chance" ... for me, it's just sad that she did not get another chance. Such a beautiful voice! And one of the prettiest things EVER recorded in rock music ... Reynardine in what is thought to be their best album, with Mr. Thompson.

I would check out all of the White Willow lp's ...quite a bit of their music has that sound or feel of 'Madonna Blue' to it.
