Apparently there is a metal sub genre called pirate metal, and no, I'm not joking. This is it's Wikipedia page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_metal
Anyone familiar with it?

it's like parody metal these days. German heavy/power band Running Wild used pirates stories as lyrical themes. I don't know how it became a thing, a subgenre. I also heaven't seen the term pirate-metal, most of the band are like Running Wild, some are heavier, some are folkier, that's all.

Running Wild have a few really good albums. You'll see them classified as heavy/power and speed metal for their early work.

Black Hand Inn is still one of my favourite albums but I haven't heard it for ages. Thank you for reminding me of it!

Yes, I am aware of pirate metal, in particular the band, Alestorm. They were a compromise for a long car drive between me (liking some metal) and my son (who likes soundtracks, such as Pirates of the Caribbean). Somehow Alestorm has managed 6 full albums of this gimmick.

^You're welcome. Smile
Perhaps pirate metal should be excepted as "prog related" on PA... unless it already is?
