Not ancient Roman, I'm afraid. The Gardens were built in the 16th century for a local prince. They are very well worth visiting if you happen to be in Italy. The region where they are located is also very beautiful from a natural point of view. Unfortunately, the English Wiki page is not as detailed as the Italian one, which contains a description of each statue. What David was referring to is the Bocca della Verità in Rome, which was an ancient manhole cover. |

As already written by Hrychu, that face is in the "monster's park in Bomarzo, a little town in the country, north to Rome. It's in a big garden park full of sculptures of monsters, including a house built like the Pisa tower which make you feel sick because of the wrong perspective. It has been built by a noble in 16th century. Its purpose was to amaze his guests and all the sculptures are related to ancient Roman and Greek myths. The face is not just a sculpture. Inside there's a room with a granite table where probably the actual guests had "brunches". Today it can be visited and there's also a free barbecue area. In that zone there are other interesting places: a couple of dead cities (Calcata and Civita di Bagnoregio), a castle full of traps and hidden passages on the side of a volcanic lake (Bracciano), and there's plenty of places for great food and wine.
