For the fun of it and my curiosity
Yes- debut - Time and a Word and The Yes Album vs Genesis - FGTR - Trespass - Nursery Cryme
which early trio of albums do you prefer?

I prefer Yes' debut (much more than the boring Genesis one) but 'Trespass' and 'Nursery Cryme' are for me superior to Yes' 2nd and 3rd albums, so Genesis.

I like all six albums, so I can't decide.

Oh wait, I have to copy and paste my line from the other polls... Done:
No matter what combination of three albums by these two bands, it will always be Yes for me.

Hmm... On second thought, if it was Heaven & Earth, The Ladder and Fly From Here, then whatever combination of three Genesis albums would win...

Yes debut is better than From Genesis to Revelation, but Trespass and Nursery Cryme are mighty. Even The Yes Album inclusion isn't enough to win in my book.

Genesis gets the nod. The only one from the Yes selection that resonates for my ears is The Yes Album.

Has to be Genesis for me.

In my opinion,
GENESIS Trespass is a little masterpiece, much better than Nursery Crime (the debut is... well, not memorable).
YES The Yes Album is a vert good album, better than Nursery Crime, but not a masterpiece as good as Trespass (the firsts two are... not memorable).
So I voted for Genesis.

I don't want to Trespass on your feelings, but I'm not even Closer to the Edge of choosing three favourites.

so after you flooded the forum with Yes and Genesis related threads and polls, you are not going to choose in a simple poll someone else makes? That's very lame of you to be honest.
It's not in all good fun as you always say to me? You cannot choose here?

Okay, I'll choose Yes, not because I like those three albums best, but because they need some help in the poll.

surprised at the results so far. Where are the yes fans?
The Peter Banks Yes has got little love here lately.

Yes 3/5 TAAW 3/5 TYA 4/5
FGTR 1/5 Trespass 3/5 NC 5/5
so Yes squeaks it only because I dislike FGTR

The Yes Album tips the scales for me drastically so Yes wins.

I'm going with the first three Yes albums, because they are the work of a band both older and more experienced.
The first three Genesis albums are the work of gifted amateurs: while there was something special about Yes from the very beginning, Genesis didn't really "arrive" until Foxtrot.

I'm a Yes fan, but I'm also a Genesis fan too, which makes it hard to decide between the two bands.

It comes down to three of the six albums for me. I enjoy the first two Yes albums, but they are overshadowed by the excellent TYA (although I find it a flat recording). The Genesis debut is entirely negligible, but Trespass and Nursery Cryme are also excellent albums. So, it is two Genesis albums vs one Yes album. I have to go with Genesis this time.

I don't want to start a new thread so I figured i'd ask here. What is the best sounding version of Going For The One? I like the music but can't help but feel underwhelmed by the mix on Apple music and the OG vinyl. Is there a better sounding version out there somewhere, I find it is a little hard on the ears and a bit muddy at times

For me Fly From Here was OK, it has some very nice songs. But any combination of albums among Tormato, Big Generator, The Ladder, Open your Eyes, and Heaven & Earth would likely loose for me.

I figure no need to start a new topic for something that is going to be a 3 word answer, god knows we already have enough yes threads around here hahaha

Tough choice due to The Yes Album and Nursery Cryme...I rarely listen to the other 4..... went with Yes...mostly due to 'Starship Trooper' which is a killer track. ...and of the 2 lp's my favorite item.

My logic was Trespass and Nursery Crime vs The Yes Album

The first three Yes records are my least favorite of the pre/golden era TBH.
Genesis easily on this one, and is probably the only situation in which you'll hear me say Genesis over Yes, especially golden eras for both!
