Quatermass, an exceptionally powerful three piece group, showed great promise when they got together in the Autumn of 1969. Sadly they never received the attention they deserved from the public. But during its brief career, the British band toured extensively, visited America and produced this highly rated album in 1970, which shows off their considerable potential. It wasn't surprising the band seemed so good to many rock critics and discerning fans. The line up included Mick Underwood (drums) Pete Robinson (keyboards), and Johnny Gustafson (bass and vocals).

Yes, I've heard Quatermass about three times.  Not bad. Not great. Just average.

Absolutely  and of course named themselves after the Nigel Kneale's science hero of 3 TV serialised plays (had me hiding behind the sofa) and Quatermass & The Pit was remade for the cinema by Hammer Films - about time for a remake????

It took me ~ 30 years to get to hear the eponymous album - I'm glad I didn't hold my breathe. Many power trios with Hammond organ lead from that period, and nothing special that made them stand out of the crowd - other than a great album sleeve and being one of the early Harvest Records releases..

The Quatermass Experiment is one the scariest films ever made!

BTW I know nothing about the band either

I rather liked five million years to earth myself!! although THE QUATERMASS CONCLUSION(1979) was good, if bleak, apocolyptic and a little strange!!!

but then all the movies were strange
