If you ask me to rank them:

1. Charlie Whitney
2. Justin Hayward
3. Ollie Halsall
4. Jukka Tolonen
5. Paul Kossoff

The most underappreciated guitarist, however, is Roman Bunka.

Well..I like Halsall's work with Timebox and Patto...I like those early Brit proto prog bands.
Kossoff was great in Free and Crawler...a unique player who knew that less was more.
Hayward was/is good in the Moodies though I was always disappointed he didn't do a few longer solos since he had the chops .
I do not know Tolonen and Whitney....but I will look into them.

Well with a title like 'Below the radar guitarists' people might post their favorite below the radar guitarists.  It's what we do.

Or you could also read the OP - it's pretty clear what he's asking.

tbh I only really know Hayward and Kossoff. I don't know the Moody Blues well enough to comment on Hayward, they're not a massively guitar solo-type band.
Kossoff is brilliant (or was). I'm a big Free fan and his soloing was brilliant, great vibrato, and All Right Now is one of the great solos.

I don't really rate (or know them) apart from maybe Kossof who was obviously a genius.

Denny Laine
Andy Scott
Greg Lake
Arthur Lee
Tom Scholz
