Both albums currently scoring 4.26 on PA and are Porcupine Tree's best two albums with these scores, but which one do you like best:

2002 - In Absentia - 4.26
2007 - Fear of a Blank Planet - 4.26

I'll need to listen to FOABP at least one more time before voting. Not too long ago I listened to IA but it's been a while for FOABP.

Fear of a Blank Planet. In Absentia is one of my least favourite albums in the entire PT catalog, and I'm constantly baffled at all the love it gets.

In Absentia, Fear is  good album but not on the level of IA.

19 to 7......alas....Fear is getting trounced.
While a very well played and recorded lp, when I finish listening to Fear nothing sticks in my head...no melodies or hooks. Fripp and Lifeson's contributions are buried in the mix imho.
In Absentia has variety and interesting bits all over it....and actual melodies and songs that are memorable ..for me at least. There's that ole subjectivity thing in prog...again.

Yes..by far the most overrated (oops...there's that word again...) lp in the PT catalog.
Just for s**ts and giggles...I'd love to know what Wilson thinks of it compared to their other lp's.

Both solid albums, but I'm a fan of their early stuff, right up to the first live album.....that's the spacy sweet spot of the Tree.
