Alright, here it is. You've been waiting since the RTF poll and slugging through the others you probably aren't familiar with. Well FINE. It's right here. All the groups with words in their names that Chick purposely misspelled because he's so HIP.
I was lucky enough to see Chick with the classic EB line-up in 2016 at the Catalina Bar and Grill in LA. A friend had tickets, so he and his mom took me and another friend while we were still in high school. I had never heard of the group before (and the friend just said, "hey, want to see Chick Corea this weekend), so I went in with completely fresh ears. And I was blown away. They began the set with Charged Particles, and my brain melted. It might have been because we were very close to the drums and Dave was deafening us, but I'm sure it was the pure epicness of that track that really did me in. They played those few lines (you know the ones) and my friends and I exchanged an incredulous look. They played a lot from To the Stars that night (I know because Chick was sort of describing the concept behind each pieces' Hubbard inspiration, Alan Corday, Mistress Luck, Commander Jocelyn, etc.). They also played Ished (actually an EBII track), and the bass/drums/keys rhythm in that breakdown really had swooning. I only found out the name of that one after another friend mentioned the name of the track and played it, and I recognized it from that night! The first encore featured a singer from the audience, I think it might have been Gayle. I think they did an RTF mark I tune, probably Sometime Ago, though it might have been You're Everything. Apparently the night before, Herbie was in the audience, and he got up and played Spain with them! But this was a nice treat too. The last encore was a nearly 20 minute rendition of what I later found out was probably their most well-known track, Got A Match? Truly a transcendent night, and I'm so glad I had a chance to see the master play live.

Saw the "Beneath the Mask" show, third row center. It blew my head off. One of the best shows I've ever witnessed. They played the entire album, in order, and then several other tunes. Bought a t-shirt that I no longer have, wore it out.
So, BtM is my choice.

I might go with that one. It has some of my favorite tracks, including CHARGED PARTICLES. But I might go with Paint the World, which I think is one of their most consistent records and just recently listened to! I want to relisten to Eye... and Inside Out again to make sure of my choice.

I still like the very first CCEB best, and then Inside Out.

I have so many fond memories while listening to Live from the Blue Note, that I cannot vote for anything else.

Alright. I've decided. Despite the lack of bass solos, I'm going with Paint the World. The group is tight, it has the least amount of 80s/early 90s cheese (which can be good or bad in my view), and the compositions are top notch. Hair-raising stuff.

Still here, still listenin to CHARGED PARTICLES. Though if I left a skid mark in my pants, it would be because of my charged farticles.
