There have been a number of favourite-song-of-the-album-polls lately and I’d like to contribute with at least one so here ya go.

This is one of my favs from Genesis and contains a lot of really strong moments from ALL of the members. I know Mr. Hackett has said on numerous occasions that the band didn’t let him contribute a lot and even so, he sure did play some good guitar on this album right!

If I had to choose one track as my favourite it would either be Eleventh Earl Of Mar or One For The Vine - I can’t really decide (I’ll have a think about it and come back with my answer).

Please VOTE and COMMENT. I’d love to see some discussion happening!

agree---if YOSW was replaced by Inside and Out--would be one of the bands perfect albums---But Mike seems to muck up a lot of Genesis albums

Usually I vote for All in a Mouse's Night, but today I am voting for In That Quiet Earth.

Unquiet Slumbers through Afterglow. Eleventh Earl of Mar would be my second choice.

It's really not any worse than misunderstanding or follow you follow me though. Also, I dont' see how someone could criticize YOSW and not ripples since ripples seems to be their first song like that.

Blood on The Rooftops always sounded liked a lost Michael Jackson track from Blood on The Dance Floor.

I hope you guys realized I meant by title only, not the actual composition.

You want me to start a thread on it?

Should I start a thread?

Do you guys want a discussion on it?

How about a poll about it as well? Wink Cool

just my opinion.
I think Ripples is superb.
Follow You, Follow Me is cute little pop song, I like it more than YOSW.

I concur. Ripples is in a different league to YOSW, mind you my memories of it are tainted by Nicky Horne. If anyone here remembers his album chart rundown on Capital Radio at the time. Every week he did the chart and W&W was in it he only ever played YOSW.

YOSW is weak by Genesis standards at that time, but it can't be compared to Ripples, which is a classic, and a song with a completely different feel to YOSW.

That said, YOSW is still leagues ahead of Misunderstanding, which I think is among the weakest songs they ever recorded. When I first heard it as an 11 year old it made me yawn for 3 mins, and it still does, practically to the point of jaw dislocation. Awful bloody, plodding drivel.

I will never forget that moment when - on the Invisible Touch tour - they launched into 'Unquiet Slumbers/Quiet Earth' - made it all worthwhile (the dreaded Blues Bros medley was yet to come...)

One for the Vine... I thought that one should have been the obvious winner. I haven't really been able to warm up to Blood on the Rooftops.

I voted for "...in that quiet earth", but would have voted for "Inside and Out" if it had only been included on the album in place of "Your Own Special Way".

That's a tough choice, but I'm going with Afterglow.
