'Empires Never Last' because it is a) an improvement in the band's sound and b) a suspense-ridden epic ride, with Galahad giving the neo-prog sound a very recognizable heavy spin, making it one of the most exciting British prog albums released in the 2000s, quite likely it will make my top 20.

Nice choices. Riverside, FW, PoS, JJ, all good albums. I shall vote for the underdog, JJ.

btw - Enchant's album is titled "Tug of War" not Tag of War. Wink

Radiohead for this one. It compares to other classics that never get old. The most notable aspect of this album for me is the excellent orchestration, something often overlooked by more traditional prog bands. Among commercially successful prog acts, where the "art music" influence (in the western classical music sense) is generally still a couple century late, at least this one took it a bit further and incorporated more contemporary classical music in their -otherwise eclectic- mix. Something they would actually achieve in a far more accomplished way on their most recent opus, to be fair.
Their merit though, still relies heavily on this move forward while still retaining the popular appeal. Digging through lesser known acts and genres on PA (notably on Krautrock, Zeuhl or Progressive electronic) you'll find earlier and/or much more up-to-date bridges between "art" and "popular" music (sorry for the somewhat controversial categorisation).

Too many amazing albums here!!

Voted Dredg - "El Cielo", sounds to me very original, its like Radiohead + Tool + Alternative metal.

Other great option Subsignal, if you like Sieges Even really great album

Voted Galahad, Empires Never Last.  This album is just amazing! And heads above anything else I've heard from the band.  I don't know of another Neo-prog album with such power and drive (to bring home a largely anti-war message--the inclusion of punk-rockish elements help with this).

Very closely followed by Second Life Syndrom, then Magnification.

Magnification, not because it's Yes but because they a got a good film composer to share writing credits on the album. Great albums are made through collaborations like this.

Seems I missed or neglected this poll the first time around. I voted for Radiohead's In Rainbows, which I am listening to now. It's an album that I got at the time of release and have not listened to in full in considerable years.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I observed before. It can be much like that with music for me; immersed in experiencing the moment.
