No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

I can't vote for any of these.
None of them survived The Great Album Purge a few years ago when I moved to a smaller house.

I can rule out ELP, Genesis and King Crimson, so it's all A Question of Balance which album I'm going to choose out of the three remaining. Smile

Lark's Tongues is number 1, but Drama isn't too far behind that.  Everything else on the list is not on my favorite album list.  Brain Salad falls to a distant 3rd (Not a fan of the overly-long Karn Evil) and the rest don't even register.

I'm still not getting the connection with these. Can you give us a hint?
The Genesis albums seem out of place compared to the others ( 80's Genesis compared to classic era 70's prog)  & you have some very strong albums ( BSS & LTIA) up against some albums that are not are highly regarded (The Final Cut )  I'm just not sure how they tie together?

Someone has solved it already - but on this thread I have used 3rd place for each band.  The solo thread and the 'less big ones' I am about to post are variations on the same theme.

At last, my chance to show how much of a die hard Genesis fan I am.

Let's see

Moody Blues - haven't heard this one

Pink Floyd - it's... something... maybe even music!

Yes - good album, need to revisit, not comparable to the greats on this list

ELP - stellar release, but weighed down a bit by track 2, which goes on a good deal too long. Also just not my favorite from them

KC - Also stellar. The only problem here is, despite having the sound and the tone and direction down, the songwriting doesn't compare to what they would do on Red with the same core lineup within a single year. Excellent release though.

Genesis - Here it is. My favorite of their pop era. Side one is as perfect an album side as exists in their catalogue. From the downright creepy moody opener of Mama, to the final chorus of Second Home By The Sea. Side two is filled with pop gems, from the adrenaline rush of Just A Job To Do, to the genuinely uplifting It's Gonna Get Better, to the weird prog pop of Silver Rainbow. Even Illegal Alien is too well constructed and catchy for me to dislike. This one takes the cake for me.

Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

Glad somebody likes the Genesis. It's not as bad as a lot of people make out. Nevertheless it's still not a patch on LTIA, which is a masterpiece.
