I'm far more excited to hear Bruce Dickinson's prospective solo album. Delayed a couple of times. Hopefully it'll come out one day.

Also saw this pic last week......."IMXVII" bottom right corner. Maybe a concept album about Belshazzar from the Book of Daniel, his feast where he saw the visions on the wall....Could be a good one!
Up the Irons!!

Thanks for the reminder. I would have missed it otherwise. Good song, with very good instrumental part around the middle of it. The sound is nice, Bruce Dickinson sounds good. The animation video is, decent.

Oh and their site doesn't work, I guess due to excessive "clicks". I get that they've declared a UK tour.

Jul 15th, 2021 IRON MAIDEN REVEAL FIRST NEW MUSIC IN 6 YEARS WITH SPECTACULAR ANIMATED VIDEO: THE WRITING ON THE WALL
IRON MAIDEN today revealed their brand-new track, The Writing On The Wall, with an eagerly anticipated global YouTube video premiere. The song was written by Adrian Smith & Bruce Dickinson, produced by Kevin Shirley and co-produced by Steve Harris.

Bruce Dickinson initially had a concept for the video which came to fruition in collaboration with two Award-winning former Pixar executives and long-standing Maiden fans Mark Andrews & Andrew Gordon. With partners lining up to get involved with the project they chose BlinkInk, a London based animation studio.
In BlinkInk director Nicos Livesey, another long-time Maiden fan & kindred spirit, they found a man who shared the collective vision for the track – resulting in the final film which features the very first glimpse of a stunning new incarnation of Eddie.
Bruce comments “I had a pretty clear idea of the concept to accompany the song and when I met Mark and Andrew, on Zoom, it quickly became clear we were all very much on the same wavelength, and this was reinforced with the addition of Nicos and his young BlinkInk team. Our weekly team Zoom meetings were then usually both highly creative and a lot of fun!
I’m very proud of the way the video turned out, it’s more like a mini-film really. I knew it was going to work out as soon as Mark brought my treatment to life with his incredible storyboards - I thought we could make something very special together. I think we did and hope our fans will agree. In fact it it’s pretty much created by Maiden fans!! ”
Director, Nicos Livesey takes up the story: “We quickly found the expertise we wanted, and people were literally throwing themselves at me to work on a Maiden video – we had more than 60 people in 13 countries from Brazil to France, & Romania to the USA to add something to the clip and I’d say their love, passion and understanding of the band shines through every frame.”

Yes he does, great guitar solo too! Damn Kevin Shirley though, his production mix is not very good, as usual!! He's gonna suck the life outta this album I can see it already.......I wish they would find someone else.

The white-robed wizard reminded me of this "evil" being from the awesome animation series called Futurama!

^ With all the different collaborators on the video, I'm not surprised of the similarities.

Looks highly promising based on the track listing and of course track lengths. Boy there are going to be some pissed off metal fans at the track lengths! Over on another music site most were hoping for more concise shorter songs on the new album, saying they did not like the longer pcs of late.
Now I am wondering what the whole Belshazzar deal was about, unless simply to set the stage for "Writing On the Wall" song title. As the album theme is clearly a Japanese/Asian theme with Eddie as a Samurai.
The negative on all this is still (and always will be) Kevin Caveman Shirley as producer and probably engineer, if he sucks the life out of this album on the mixing board, I'll be highly pissed!! .
I can't wait for the album with gatefold, possibly tri-fold (like Book of Souls) and the amazing artwork.
