Veilburner are an American blackened death metal band from Pennsylvania and active since 2013. Taking their name from a song by Enslaved, Veilburner are a studio project consisting of a multi-instrumentalist known only as Mephisto Deleterio and vocalist Chris Sheppard (aka Chrisom Infernium).

The lyrical themes are, according to the band, "about 2 eccentric characters who are sick of their mortal existence and its limitations, and obsessed with finding a way to transform or evolve beyond it by employing everything from arcane spiritualism to mad scientific experiments," a summary which could well be used to describe the musical dialogue between Deleterio and Sheppard. The band independently produced and released their conceptual trilogy - The Three Lightbearers, Noumenon and The Obscene Rite - before catching the attention of Transcending Obscurity Records, which signed them and issued their fourth LP, 2018's A Sire to the Ghouls of Lunacy. The album was to begin a new duology detailing the hallucinations of a man with porphyria, being driven slowly insane by the visions and directions of two spectral forms whose reality is ambiguous.

     

Veilburner's intense and eclectic brand of progressive metal will appeal to listeners of Imperial Triumphant, Dødheimsgard, Ur Draugr, Akercocke, Sigh and Dodecahedron.
