I respect and acknowledge the "classic" qualities of Wish You Were Here - and I think I can understand why it is such an important album to so many. But Godbluff for me. No real contest. -------------

I love both. Actually both are two of my favourite prog albums ever. However, Godbluff is much more inventive, challenger and creative than Wish You Were Here , an album much more akin with the classic prog standards, and probably less prog. Besides, VDGG always was a mucg more creative and inventive band than Pink Foyd was.

Both albums are stellar but i voted on Godbluff, there is so mucch awesome on it, but there are no weak spots on WYWH either. -------------

Wish You Were Here is by no means my favourite Floyd album, but it's better than Godbluff (or any other Van der Graaf Generator album) any day of the week. ------------- A TVR is not a car. It's a way of life. |

I voted purely on impulse. I've heard WYWH many many more times than Godbluff, and I still think it's overrated. Godbluff is not. ------------- Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :) |

Not even vaguely a fair contest for me, as WYWH is not just my favourite Floyd album, but one of my favourite albums of all time. However, Godbluff would probably beat any other Floyd album. In fact, most VDGG albums would probably beat most Floyd albums, no matter what the permutation. Except one. Interesting contest, given that I rate both WYWH and Godbluff much lower in the discography of these two bands than most other people. There are really lots of PF and VDGG albums I'd prefer to these two. Between the two I give it to Wish You Were Here, just about. |
