Both are debut albums by bands that have connected with each other at times. Ex: Richard Sinclair in Camel's Raindance to Breathless. I see both of them as similar, because they have the classic lineups on both albums, have some really good songs on their albums, but do not seem to be full on established yet.

I like both but Caravan's is of more interest to me.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Caravan's sounds dated while Camel's is still hip.

Can't believe Caravan's debut is losing big time over any Camel albumConfused

Though in this case, it's a (very) good Caravan album against Camel's best.

Hi,

Camel for me. Caravan's first album was a sort of bunch of singles, and while some were nice, I don't think the quality that they developed later was quite as visible.

I think Camel was ready to go, right from the start.

Camel. The debut has its weaknesses but is something quite special, with some true killer tracks.

I picked Camel's debut album, because it made me see more awesomeness of Camel. Never Let Go, Mystic Queen, and Sixate are ones I remember well.

Although the Caravan debut is my favorite of them, it's still quite a ways below the first Camel album (and most of theirs). I like that Camel's is more instrumental, and has stronger guitar work. Even when there are vocals, they're better than the other band. The Caravan album has lots of reverb and atmosphere though, which I wish they had continued with.

Arubaluba! There's not much Separation between the two, but I'll Never Let Go of any of my precious Camel albums - including The Single Factor - so the Guildford Scene wins by a narrow margin over the Canterbury Scene. Smile

I really like the first Camel album and Caravan's first is pretty good too. But, for this vote, I choose Camel.

I guess I'm going with the majority here. Certainly I prefer the first Camel album over Caravan's, but I enjoy both of them quite a lot.

Camel's debut is one of their best albums. Easy vote.
