TAAB followed by Aqualung.

Benefit. I think everything is just perfect about it. What a genuinely awesome folkrock-band Jethro Tull was back in 1969/1970! Man what great tunes! Post-Aqualung Tull are still mostly great, but everything feels more like "The Ian Anderson Project", and they sort of lost their groove. I can't think of any riffs as memorable as To Cry You a Song (or Cross Eyed Mary) from after 1971.

Aqualung is my absolutely choice. Thick as a Brick, as Jan Anderson has said it himself, is over the top for me - and I've given it a very good try.
And so, Benefit is my number two.

Thick as a Brick
Minstrel In The Gallery
Aqualung
Songs From The Wood
A Passion Play
Stormwatch

I voted for all of those as multiple votes allowed

Hard to choose. My intro to progressive music was Jethro Tull, so their music has a special place in my heart. Stand Up was the first album I heard from their discography, so Is quite special to me. Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play are two monsters of masterful music. The rest are quite enjoyable, to say the least, and I certainly listen to them quite frequently.

Aqualung for sure. I'm not big on folky Jethro which I realize is a considerable amount of their albums.

It is a tie between Songs from the Wood and Heavy Horses. I voted for the former, just to even up the tally at this point. After that, it is Thick as a Brick, Benefit, Minstrel in the Gallery, and Stormwatch, A Passion Play, Stand Up, and then Aqualung. Let's not forget their great live album, Bursting Out.

Thick As A Brick is just unbeatable in their discography. It's not that they don't have other great records, but that one... magic.

Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

Heavy Horses, followed by the usual suspects. Stormwatch is also a very fine album.

Wow someone picked Heavy Horses at last... It was one of the very first albums that I listened to within the prog sphere. But, TBH I was a huge metalhead then and it was my elder brother's cassette. I remember finding it nice then, anyway.

My pick is Aqualung, nonetheless...

Fave Tull album remix book set. Very tough decision. Tonnes of great extra tracks. TAAB was the best choice of tracks for an album but I’d rate it 5th best studio year.

I’ll go top 10 in order

Stormwatch set
Aqualung set
Passion set
Horses set
Thick set
Songs set
Warchild set
Benefit set
A set
Too old set

These are 5 star sets and a lot better than the originals
Thanks

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Benefit, still gets me excited when I spin it. The psychedelic panning of guitar and flute is invigorating and exhibits studio mastery. The Steven Wilson remix is sadly inferior to the Terry Ellis production. ( and I love almost all of Steven Wilson's remixing abilities on all of his work )

I prefer all of the Wilson mixes. Maybe 3 or 4 songs from the 13 sets are not as good as they were originally I thought. Hopefully they found the witches promise tape for the 50th book version. Then the massive Broadsword set next. Very excited to hear the production and the tonnes of new tracks

Yet, I think with just two albums you can have just about the very best from this band, and for me mostly in their best versions. Live Bursting Out and Live at Montreux.

Interesting. I always thought Benefit sounded sensational and never felt the need to replace my original LP (although I've bought it on CD at some point). The record looked rather worn when I bought it for the price of a chocolate bar back when both LP's and prog were unhip, but it sounded rich and crystal clear. And still does.
