Giant Hedgehog - Band suggestion Dear Progarchives-Community,
I would like to suggest to add our band Giant Hedgehog to the progarchives.
Bio:
GIANT HEDGEHOG
RIO/AVANT PROG – Germany
Founded in 2009, Münster; current lineup since 2011.
Giant Hedgehog is an instrumental Progressive Rock band based in Münster, Germany. The band combines a deep and dreamy sound with playful, heavy, and partly cacophonic elements. Their songs are often longer than 15 minutes, being eclectic voyages from jazzy to metallic shores, from sheer happiness to bittersweet melancholy, or even into dark depression. In 2014, the band debuted with their eponymous EP, "GIANT HEDGEHOG" consisting of a single 26 minute track. They followed this up with their 2018 EP, "DIE IRREALITÄT DER ZEIT" (which translates to "the unreality of time"). Their first full length album, "IM SIEL" ("in the sluice") has just been released in January of 2022. The band's main influcences are groups like MAUDLIN OF THE WELL, KAYO DOT, and OPETH, as well as classic groups like VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR, GENTLE GIANT, and KING CRIMSON. Giant Hedgehog's songs are composed by guitarist NIKLAS TIEKE, who founded the band in 2009. The current lineup of the band has played together since 2011.
