Formed in 2015, Luminous Vault are an American post-metal duo from New York City. The band began as the solo project of producer, guitarist and vocalist Mario Diaz de León (of Oneirogen), who later recruited bassist Samuel Smith (of http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=8874" rel="nofollow - Artificial Brain , http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=12120" rel="nofollow - Aeviterne and http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=12000" rel="nofollow - Fawn Limbs ) and guitarist/vocalist Andrew Hock (formerly of Biolich, http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=6459" rel="nofollow - Castevet and http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5861" rel="nofollow - Ehnahre ), playing a unique blend of blackened death metal, industrial and electronica. Luminous Vault released their debut EP, Communion, independently and via Graceless Recordings in 2015, with Hock leaving the group the following year. The now-duo signed to Profound Lore Records, issuing the Charismata EP in 2017 and their debut full-length Animate the Emptiness in 2022. Fans of Blut aus Nord and Godflesh as well as Vaura, Dødheimsgard, Liturgy, 0n0 and Thorns will find much to enjoy. | Fascinating group that just popped up on my radar, hopefully they'll give the team's sore ears a break. Definitely check out Animate the Emptiness first; the two EPs are less-essential. |
