The Finnish group Vimma - or VIMMA, as they prefer their name written in capitals (the word means rage, frenzy) -- mixes mostly ethnic music, progressive rock and spoken word; the female vocalist rather speaks than sings the Finnish lyrics filled with environmental and social criticism.
They themselves call it Progressive Folk, but since the music is pretty eclectic in many ways (and the heavy use of violins resembles chamber music as well), I see also Eclectic Prog as a possible subgenre.
Most of the music is composed by violinist Pessi Jouste. Electric and acoustic guitars, electric bass, drums, piano, saxophone, flute and bass clarinet are present, too.

The album Meri ja Avaruus (2019) is completely available in Youtube:  https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ncQvxwHTRrpp61idZI7MuyWKORfY-QPcE" rel="nofollow - Meri ja Avaruus - YouTube

Which of these two subgenre teams do you think should look at this first?

I'm hearing an eclectic folk-rock band, and wouldn't mind if PF took a look at them first.

Seeing as they describe themselves as progressive folk I'd start there. Sounds quite nice, I may well buy this. It's up on bandcamp too for those that prefer.

Not to be confused with Viima (also from Finland).

^I also noticed that.

I'm going to take them to the Dandelion Patch first and see what the team says. As always, will you be able to provide a biography if they pass, Matti? Thanks for sharing, they're an excellent find.

I appreciate it, and I'm happy to report they're cleared at Prog Folk.
