Formed in 2019, Erebe are a French post-metal band from Poitiers, consisting of vocalist Hugo Lavesque, guitarist Clément Letard, rhythm guitarist Augustin Braud, bassist Maxime Malingre and drummer Quentin Lefèvre. Named after the Greek god of darkness, Erebe perform an atmospheric progressive metal informed by shoegaze, post-rock and Pink Floyd, positioning them somewhere between the Ocean, Playgrounded, Karnivool, Klone and the Contortionist. Aeon, Erebe's debut LP, was released via Silent Future Recordings in 2022, a loose concept album addressing "grief in its many manifestations; some songs are written from the perspective of a protagonist whereas others are more subjective in their musings." The narrative is propelled by the voices of Lavesque, Braud and Malingre, joined by Gorguts' Luc Lemay on the final track, "The Collector."
