I decided to take a photo of my entire Trans Siberian Orchestra collection. As you can see, one of them is a vinyl copy of their 2nd album, which currently is my most valuable vinyl in my collection.

I had to give TSO a go, because they were helped set up by Jon Oliva of Savatage, and Savatage are one of my favourite bands. Some people feel that Dead Winter Dead by Savatage was pretty much the prototype album of TSO.

I have always loved 'The Hall Of The Mountain King' album.

I know nothing of this band - what sort of style are they? (I know, I could look them up, but I thought I’d ask instead!)

Basically like what Savatage are from Dead Winter Dead onwards, but not quite as metally, but more explorative with orchestra and neo classical influences

This was my intro to TSO.

I saw them Live in London ON a number of years ago.

Thank you for supporting independently produced music

I’ve never listened to Savatage🤣but it sounds like I might like them based on your description 👍

TSO are mostly Christmas rock/metal operas.  Beethoven's Last Night, Letters from the Labyrinth, and Night Castle are their 3 non-Christmas albums, so you might want to start with those.  The Christmas albums are very good, but seasonal.  I find the stories to be really good, but again seasonal.

Im more interested in later Savatage, where they were progressive metal.   But i will admit that Hall of The Mountain King is their best classic heavy metal era album.
