Vediog Svaor was a French progressive black metal project spearheaded by musician/songwriter Matthieu Canaguier, who operated under the moniker Van Vadermark. Based in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, Vediog Svaor was formed in 1996 as a vehicle for Canaguier's bizarre and singular post-black metal vision, which incorporated influences from 1970s/80s progressive and psychedelic rock, and has been described as "Timeghoul playing https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2495" rel="nofollow - Ved Buens Ende covers, with https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=5997" rel="nofollow - Robert Plant on vocals, recorded through the https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=3547" rel="nofollow - Les Rallizes Dénudés soundboard."

Canaguier - who handled vocals, guitar, bass and drum programming - typically worked alone, but assembled a cast of five session players to accompany his debut release, which was a 1997 split cassette with fellow French black metal band Sentinel, helmed by Shantidas Riedacker. The following year, Canaguier retreated to a cabin in the woods of the Alpine mountain Montgelas to record his first and only full-length, In the Distance, which saw release in 2001 via Paragon Records.

It is unclear when Vediog Svaor dissolved: Canaguier ultimately joined Riedacker's primary group Diamatregon in 1999, and the two would later co-found blackened krautrock trio https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=3428" rel="nofollow - Aluk Todolo in 2004.

Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light
And if I can't sleep, can you hold my life
