I certainly don't use to make polls, but here's one, the David's way, and I have an idea about the most popular choice. There you go!

Red by a long way for me. I struggle with LTIA as much as I do with Discipline. I would like to feel the same 'love' for these as others do but it's just not happening (yet)

I do like LTIA but Red is clearly better for me.

LYIA is great, as all of KC 69-74 studio albums are. But Red is just something very special to me

Both are great, I'd give LTiA a slight edge but given the 'both are great' option I'm not voting against Red.

Both are great albums, but Red is just slightly better for me. Somehow my southeast bedroom became filled with edible multicolored tori and I can't find a bowl or a spoon.

It took surely some years before I was ready for Larks' Tongues, but I can't imagine, I'll ever be ready for Discipline.

Larks is great, but they hadn't found the proper way to transfer their full potential to the record yet. Red, otherwise, sounds really fulfilled.

^^Is there a preparation phase to be ready for something?
Both albums are good, each with a dud. Larks has Talking Drum and Red has Providence. Not great songs for me. So vote for both.

The dramatic build of "The Talking Drum" followed by LTIA pt 2 is one of the best segments of music ever. David Cross' violin play is dramatic and emotional, and spars well with Fripp's guitar as counterpoint.
But I also like Red, so I voted for both.

Red always seems to get the nod over LTIA just like Moonmadness always seems to get the nod over Snowgoose. Personally I don't get it since I like the so called "lesser" albums by both bands. Oh well.

Both are good, but I find Red more listenable in the long run over the weirdness of Larks.
It'd fun though to put together one album as a mixture of the two, such as:

By now, this poll looks like Red vs "both are great", which is not in accordance with what I had guessed as the most popular choice. I thought it would be "both are great", even I now can find Red to had been the best guess.

Just to help you interpret... picking one of these doesn't mean that not both are great. The options don't mutually exclude each other. I don't say "LTIA is not great" by voting for Red. Personally, I'm not a fan of sitting on the fence options in such polls, so I will vote for the one I prefer as long as I clearly know which one it is, regardless of whether or not I think "both are great". (Neither will you normally find me voting for "other" in polls where this is offered, even if I could easily have others in mind.)

Yep I voted for Red as it's among my "desert island discs", but of course thay are both great. I don't think anyone who treasures one of these - do not treasure the other as well.

Both are great. I cannot choose one over the other; that is why I'm lousy in rating (which I don't, actually) and ranking albums.

Are there any? I have to admin that both albums are ground breaking and genuine, but they just fail to bring me in a state of praise on the edge of worship. Some tracks I really like, but others leave me totally cold. Maybe Boojieboy's suggestion for a compilation is not that bad, though my choices may be different. The only example of an album track (not the entire album) I can think of is UK's Carrying No Cross (somewhat similar to Starless: same length, same song structure, same John Wetton, but different instrumentation), which makes even Starless (arguably the best of the bunch) sound like an early draft version in my ears.

I have to admit, if looking at these two albums as multiart, I'm not very fascinated by the lyrics or the cover art. They're more like decent, I'd say.

This is not my view of these two albums. I'd say, the difference is that Larks' Tongues is more influenced by avant-garde music, but it works best for me when listening to side 2 first.

This is how I feel. Larks' Tongues represents a sort of peak for KC for me personally. It has that avant flair that I so desperately seek and enjoy.
