Hi! I'm Benjamin Almö Thorsell, artist name ALMO, from Sweden.   Bio: ALMO is the artist name of Swedish musician Benjamin Almö Thorsell, born -92. The music of ALMO features what he loves best about progressive metal music, blending lighter melodic moments with heavy riffs, odd time signatures and massive choruses. The music moves from light to dark and aims to capture the full spectrum of human emotion, at times incorporating elements all the way from pop, country and ambient to black and death metal. Before he started releasing music as ALMO Benjamin had previously played guitar, written music and sometimes filled in on vocal duties in a couple local bands. He started writing what would become the debut album 'Reconciliation' in 2018 after having fallen in love with progressive music a couple years before. When his band Frozen Realm (melodic death metal, 2013-2019) disbanded Benjamin started fully focusing on the making of 'Reconciliation'. As the making of the album was was a very personal process he endeavoured to make it a full solo effort instead of trying to gather members to form a new band. While writing/recording the music for 'Reconciliation' a standalone single with Swedish lyrics, 'Nu när vår tid står still' was also recorded and released in July 2023, thus being the start of ALMO as a solo artist and serving as a small preview of his style of music. The first full-length album 'Reconciliation' released on March 15th 2024, managing to garner some buzz and positive response within the prog-metal community. The album is a concept album about making peace with the past and moving beyond it and is a very personal journey. The music mainly draws inspiration from and has been likened to artists such as Devin Townsend, Haken, Periphery and Between the Buried and Me. While being primarily a solo effort, some additional help with the album was done by Viktor Forsse (various extra drum parts, help with drum programming), Fredrik Lars Nilsson (a guest keyboard solo) and Lulu de la Rosa (production/mix/master, additional keyboard arrangements and extra drum programming help).
