I'm just not that far into the future yet. Maybe I'll catch up by 2050.

I tried and mostly failed here too:). Some, like RIO/Avant, Jazz Rock/fusion and Progressive Electronic simply proved too difficult to choose just one album, while in some other genres, I really don't have anything.

But I got these:

Radiohead - Kid A (2000) for Crossover Prog. It's only competition would be other Radiohead albums.

Canterbury Scene: Needlepoint - The Diary of Robert Reverie (2018) It's such a charming and warm feelgood album. Puts a smile on my face every time.

Post Rock/Math rock: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven! (2000) -cause they are the real deal and the best at this Post Rock thing (that isn't Tortoise, Swans or Talk Talk, but they belong to different - or their own schools of Post Rock imo)

Prog Folk: Jordsjø - Salighet (2023) I get nostalgia for an era neither them nor I was around to experience. And I'm an unashamedly nostalgic person (I'm sentimental too).

+ L'Albero Del Veleno - Tale of a Dark Fate (2017) for RPI. It's truly wonderful, but I'm not sure I've actually heard another 21st century RPI album at all:)

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.
