It's VERY hard to bypass Machine Head, but I simply must vote for Jon Lord's masterpiece Durham Concerto. I highly doubt I will ever visit the place that inspired it, but if I ever do, this album will be continuously playing (in my head, if not actually on 'phones).

It has to be Machine Head - probably one of the best hard rock albums of all time.
