About monthly - probably more like six weeks. If I had the equipment to trim it I'd just do that, but it takes ever such a long time with the scissors from a Swiss army knife

Twice a day!!!!

I have very thick beard only on my chin plus mustache, even when I can't grow anything except isolated spots of beard on my cheeks.

I shave at 7:00 am (When I wake) and around 2 PM already my chin and upper lip zone are black.

But the worst thing is that the beard grows encountered, some oriented down, others upwards left and right, so it's a sh!tty work to shave, plus the fact that I have a very sensitive skin, so or I look as two days without shaving or my face is red for a couple of hours.

1-2 times a week for the moustache only, I think moustaches are only for people like Magnum PI and Child Molestors. My girlfriend likes the manly beard I have, and the 70s muttonchops I have, so those I don't shave.

I can't help myself, but whenever I read the word "goatee" I have to think of an illustration I found when browsing through some old editions of the German satire magazine "Titanic" (Friede has the complete collection). in it there used to be a column named "Humorkritik" ("humor review"), in which the late German poet Robert Gernhardt reviewed humorous books under the pseudonym "Hans Menz". in one of the editions he reviewed a book which was a collection of illustrations from other books. Gernhardt said that some of the illustrations were pretty strange and made him want to read the books, and one example was depicted, showing a man and a woman standing close to each other. the illustration was subtitled in English with the words "He took her in the arms and gently squeezed her goatee", and this is exactly what the picture showed. yes, I did not accidentally swap the pronouns, it was the woman who sported the goatee! LOL

I sport a goatee that is currently incognito, hiding behind a convincing disguise consisting of a full beard, so shaving has become an infrequent occupation reserved for special occasions, which means I generally have to set aside a sizable chunk of time to hack through the undergrowth with hedge-trimmers before assaulting the resulting stubble with a packet of disposable razors and then dousing the inflamed and raw areas of my face with copious quantities of after shave and shaving balm then covering my face with small tears of tissue paper to staunch the bleeding. An hour or so later, once my skin has recovered and the abrasions aren't quite so tender, I then have to shave again with a brand new blade to achieve that baby's bottom smoothness so liked by the ladiees. Needless to say, I do not enjoy going through this rigmarole, so the frequency of these events is dropping, but it is far more endurable than the alternative method for having a hairless chin, which I understand has some peculiar side effects.

As little as possible.  Beard and mustache are just trimmed as needed.  There are some pubes that I shave on a regular basis, every few weeks.  The bush gets trimmed every several months.  The rest of the body hair is left alone.  TMI perhaps, but what the heck.  As I have gotten older, I've been having this problem with coarse nose hairs popping up and annoying the hell out me.  Fortunately, I don't have a problem with ear hairs, back hair, etc.  LOL

I just hate shaving it though. it feels so stupid and a smooth chin doesn't really feel good to touch, and it hurts. Usually I just go through it with the machine to make it shorter and even, then blading on special occasions.

I usually shave 2-3 times a week, unlike in high school which was every day (I went to a Catholic school, so that's why).  I've had a goatee since summer '06 and am trying to add a mustache at the moment.

I was checking back in on this thread and an old Genesis song came to mind.  I tried to get the lyrics online so I wouldn't have to retype or go on memory.  The best thing I was able to find is the blurb that came on the lyrics sheet before the lyrics (I think or it may have been from the written stuff that came with the album):

"That night he pictured the removal of his hairy heart and to the
accompaniment of very
romantic music he watched it being shaved smooth by an anonymous
stainless steel razor."

I had a moustache for over 10 years and I thought I'd never shave it 'cos it seemed to me I'd feel naked without them. Eventually I did have them off about two years ago and now I really don't feel like letting them grow again. They made me look older. Tongue

BTW, I save every two, three days. If I don't my skin under the hair starts to itch and flake.

How many folks have referred to shaving "it" - chin, upper lid, sideburns, skull, bikini line, legs, arms, back, stomach, armpits?........curious to know, since I suspicious that many people are shy at naming particular body parts here.. Personally I shave my (face) cheeks and neck every other day and trim the rest of my beard and sideburns  monthly.

Me? I'm still a babyface at 17 going on 18. :(
I've only ever shaved twice to get rid of "bumfluff" in the hope that an actual tache would replace it, but to no avail.
Most of my friends are the same age as me and shave regulary (except Brad who likes to grow a black beard to look older) so I take a bit of banter from them.
From what I hear I'm not missing much because I've been told that "shaving sucks" by a few people.

we used to but got tired of the daily shaving, so we went for a permanent solution. it was expensive but worth it and also looks much better (with shaving you always have a kind of shade on the head). so really no shaving necessary anymore. this was done head to toe; only the eyelashes were simply plucked again and again until they did not regrow anymore. did you say "ouch"? no; surprisingly it does not hurt at all when you use automatic tweezers

2-6 times a week because if go more than two days without shaving I start to look disgusting.  I have no beard/stash (of gold) growing abilities.

I had my sweet red beard going for 3 months, but shaved it for a job interview that I didn't even need to shave it for (the dress code was incredibly lax).

Usually I let it grow until something comes up where I feel it would be inappropriate to have a scraggly beard.

Which generally seems to be about every 3-5 months.

Exactly 3 times a week. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday that way I never have more than one day of growth at work.  It gets pretty heavy after two days so my secret is to get a cheap electric (around $10) and just hack it down first so that it is much easier to shave with a blade.
