I'm really happy they got to have that final show, that moment as a band. Despite the criticisms I've read from people, so cool that they got that. They shared that moment that was all theirs, on their turf, and no doubt the other guys are feeling blessed that they did get it done before this happened.
"We are Black Sabbath!" Loved it when he opened with that line. Like, the four of us are the real deal, folks, and we're here right now in 2025!

A legend has left us. I regret not having been able to see him on stage, but am glad that he managed to bow out in style just a couple of weeks ago.
We'll spin Black Sabbath's debut later at dinner time as a tribute to him .

At age 70, I grew up with Ozzy and the Sabbath! I played "Paranoid" in the last band I was in, and many of us aspiring rock musicians started off with their easy-to-play, and FUN to play, material!
All I can say is that I am VERY grateful he had one last chance to connect with his adoring fan base in his last show!! That is a rocker's dream, to go out in that fashion.
Fly high, Ozzie! You and Randy Rhodes can make some great music again!

I saw him live on the Ultimate Sin tour, a show where the opening act was the mighty Blue Oyster Cult.
I was much more there to see BOC, and I would have flipped the order of appearance if it were in my power. (Sorry, Ozzy.) But it was great to see Jake on guitar.

This is a tough one since I consider myself a fan. I like his paranormal related tv shows too (although they focus more on his son). Anyway, he was and is a true legend. RIP Ozzy.

People who didn't like him didn't realize what a great voice he had and how musical he was. They just saw devil worship and his bizarre appearance. You don't reach the top of the rock food chain without huge talent.
The first record that got me interested in metal was Diary of a Madman, and it is still one of the greatest, most progressive & creative hard rock recordings ever made. Maybe the best. Here's hoping he and Randy are having a big hug.

Even though I knew he was done touring, and for sure was having more health and physical issues I was not expecting this at all.
Man so tough, especially after the recent event, he really looked like he was having fun! I suspect the film of the concert will come out sooner now, I heard it was slated for 2026 release.
This is the only time I saw him.....

A mix of sad with an overwhelming sense of catharsis with the way the band closed their chapter of history.

Diary of a Madman opens with my favorite Ozzy solo tune, a barnstormer of a kickoff.

A person who will be missed now and many later years. The worst vocal-wise Sabbath singer and the true voice of Black Sabbath and rock and heavy metal in general. Satanic, humorous, humanistic, true rock'n'roll clown sometimes making us to think of serious things (remember his "Revelation (Mother Earth)").
May the Prince of Darkness, whose songs, as far as I can tell, were bringing light to our souls, rest in pease.

One thing about Ozzy that always cracked me up is how he would run over to Tony--during Tony's solos, mind you--and start clapping and jumping around like right in front of Tony as he's trying to solo.

Nice to see you stop by, Raff, even under these sad circumstances.
I Saw Sabbath twice with Ozzy, the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Never Say Die tours in the 70s (and then Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio on the Black and Blue tour), and once with Ozzy solo featuring Randy Rhoads and the Blizzard of Ozz. Each was a helluva concert.
I'll miss you, Ozzy. Fare thee well in Heaven or Hell.

Never got into Sabbath despite their obvious importance but Ozzy is one of those unique characters that made rock music what it was and is. No one like him before or since. You could even have sat nav devices programmed with his lovely voice. A sad loss but he lived his life how it should be. RIP

I listened to it last night on youtube (even though I have the cd somewhere). I'm not sure I agree but I see where you're coming from because it has a lot of atmospheric keys on it. A lot of early Black Sabbath qualifies though as do certain tracks by Rainbow, Iron Maiden and even Metallica (apparently JP also).

Sad to hear about the passing of Ozzy. Lots of fun songs to learn on guitar. The level of complexity was quite striking really. Lot of great hooks and energy throughout his long career.

A milestone of a festival, let alone festival day. Alas, I'm only able to experience it in playback.
It's ingrained in my memory banks, that day that horridly HOT day in the desert will go down as one of my most beloved musical memories.
Me and two of my HS buddies went. We spent the night in the parking lot in my VW Rabbit car night before. One of my buds moms made a tray of brownies for us and that's all we ate that night. We partook in a bit of weed and walked around and enjoyed the sights and sounds as we could hear the music that night. After that I remember not much. We woke up about 7am and went to get in line gates opened at 8am and we managed to be about 100 people deep from the stage a bit to the right.
We never left that spot all day and night. We ran out of water by noon before Motley Crue came on, never got any food all day. We relied on the water being sprayed on us from the stage. It was easily 98-110 during midday, felt like 400 degrees. We were pretty much elbow to elbow most of the time in the crowd, as you can see from the film.
Scorpions stole the day with Triumph right behind them, Judas Priest was insane and I would say Ozzy was right behind them. It took Ozzy a few songs to sound good, you can notice in the film his voice gets really good by the end.
VH was like an hour late, by the time they came on we were ready to leave. They started the set and you could tell DLR was so wasted it was terrible, we listened to a couple songs and bailed....We were so dehydrated we were loopy, I don't even remember driving out of the place. Made it to one of my buddies house and we crashed in his room till the next day. My ears were ringing all night, probably lost some hearing that day.
I have no clue how I did not lose my car key, now that I think about it I think I left it under one of the tires (good call on my end LOL). I still have my ticket stub and parking stub, how I did not lose these I don't know, I need to frame them.
Like I said it was the greatest musical day of my life....US Festival '83 - Heavy Metal Sunday!

Pretty much the same here - of the trio of bands considered to be the founders of heavy metal [LZ, DP & BS] I never could quite get into the Sabbath - even tho I love Zeppelin and Purple.

Great recollection, Catcher! I was not yet a teen at the time, so there was a snowball's chance I'd have attended an event on that scale. I remember the TV commercial. As one who's overly familiar with the SoCal heat, I've no doubt being there was a preternatural balance of misery and bliss.
Many years ago, a friend told me he'd heard Triumph was the loudest band there, but somehow, I doubt that (and it doesn't matter). I so would've loved to have seen Triumph circa 1983-84! Well, I've got their Live at the US Festival DVD. (I did get to talk to Mike Levine when they were promoting it.)
