I find this band quite interesitng, but there are songs I like and some I dont. The ones I dont are Big puzzle from Back in the ... and There is more to these world from Retropolis. Mainly because of how ...happy they are? Can that be it? Well, it can, but its also something in the music....I dont know, and I dont really care much for the voice of who ever sings in both. But songs like In the eyes of the World, Vampiers view and specially Black & White are really nice!!! So I was thinking if you think one album from they has that "vibe" from the last 3 songs I mentioned...I was thinking of Adam & Eve, because as Gildelöw is there too maybe its a bit more...not-happy

But...whats your advise?

Unfold the Future is simplying the best and most complete album they've ever made. Highest recommended.

Just start with Back in the World of Adventures and work your way up through their catalogue.

I started out with Adam and Eve, and have had to put a bit of time into their other albums before I liked them.

Adam and Eve is definatly the best to start with as it is their most acessable.

However their best is easily Unfold the Future or Retropolis.

I recommend Space Revolver to start with. But IMO all of their albums except Adam & Eve and The Rainmaker are accessible. I think that this poll will end up pretty indecisive ... so choose any album you like.

ANY OF THOSE; I THINK THE BEST PLACE TO START WITH FK IS THE LIVE ALBUM ALIVE ON PLANET EARTH

I started with Adam & Eve.  Then I got Back in the World of Adventures and then I think it was Rainmaker.  Adam & Eve is a good start for sure.  Also, I really like Rainmaker, even though most say it's not very good.  I still think Road to Sanctuary is one of their greatest songs.

Improvement makes straight roads, but the crooked roads without improvement, are roads of genius.

Silence is the music of the future.

I voted Back in the World.. simply because it's their first album. But the best Flower Kings record yet is their live album Meet the Flower Kings. Here you get some of their best epics, including the fabulous Humanizzimo, from Roine Stolt's solo-album (although many of the later band-members also participate) The Flower King.

I know that FK are far from being innovators of prog rock but Roine Stolt is a very good 70's style prog songwriter and Tomas Bodin is outstanding emulating the great keyboardists of prog history.

I tend to recommend the earlier Flower Kings albums for starters: Back in the World of Adventures, Retropolis, Stardust we are as well as Roine Stolt's solo album The Flower King for it was where it all started.

Whatever you do, dont make the same mistake that i did and start with the rainmaker, I find it a bit hit and miss but essentially a decent album, couldnt say what was the best to start with though.

Space Revolver would be my choice, or try Back in the world of Adventures, both excellent albums.

My choice isn't listed.  I love the live album "Alive on Planet Earth" and it gives a good sampling of their early albums.

Best not to start with them!!

keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
