Please let me know if I forgot someone. I don't have anything against these people, but I feel that what they did influenced music, making it crappier.

None of these artists had much influence in "crappifying" music. It's like ants: one can't do much, but if you have 1000 of them.

If I have to choose though, it would be Vanilla Ice. Musical one day fly, acting streetwise while I guess he wasn't, and it was strange to hear him talk about the Queen riff he used: he said Queen did dum-dum-dum-da-da-dum-dum, whereas he (Vanilla Ice) did dum-dum-dum-da-da-dum-dum-da-da  . And hip hop didn't get much better because of his hit single, I guess.

Britney Spears

I'd like to choose Bob Marley, because reggae is the worst musical genre I've ever heard, but I must respect his historical significance. My vote went to Vanilla Ice (Britney was pretty...).

Nah, I'm kidding. Vanilla Ice is funny, Britney and Christina are hot, and Michael Jackson KICKS ASS. But The Eagles are truly awful...

Your choices are all Mozart compared to Eminem and 50 Cent.

Actually, I like Eminem, his music and his lyrics are both good. But 50 Cent is just pure garbage. I can't understand why anyone would need lyrics like that- i don't mind swearing, but some of his lyrics are just offensive and sexist, they mean nothing but trash, and I don't understand how radio stations are allowed to even play his songs. Just look at the kyrics for Candy Shop or Just a Little Bit. I think that's what they're called.

These artist alone didn't make music crappy... Its the problem with the people... People liked that music, triggering a avalanche of artist the same as Britney, 50 Cent etc... Its Our fault, mainly...

And of course, its the fault of those darn green little papers everyone loves most...

If you voted the Eagles you suck

Easy!!!

Jackson (from your list anyway this is an obvious choice) existed well before the other artists - outside the Eagles that is , but that is a bait , you wiseguy.

Safe to say that without Jackson around (and the birth of MTV at the time of his Thriller album) , none ofthe other choices would've had much of a life!

I think it was neither of them, but the people behind. All those who see music no longer as a way to express feelings, thoughts and ideas as its main characteristic, but see it as a way to get more money and power, disgusting pigs!!

whtat's wrong with reggae?? you may not like it, but still it hasent done anything bad to music. In fact i think it is a very honest music genere, away from all the "disseases" of mainstream pop music.

Maybe it was meant to be like this. Look at the people around. What do you expect them to listen? Humanity must see the bottom first, to reach the top. (They must have seen enough  )

Without doubt anything ...RAP and HIP HOP. Call that music????? ...and the record producers and companies/labels

Re: the poll - I don't think anyone of those artists are solely responsible for the state of today's   pop music scene. As has been said before, many have combined non-talent to steer the music scene where it is today.

BTW - Michael Jackson

Gonna go with Vanilla Ice on this one...ugh.....  Micheal Jackson and the Eagles made decent pop music, so they haven't really done any damage to the music business per se.  Well, let's just say Britney and Christina aren't quite AS awful as the Ice Man.  I just have to do it again.....!

MTV. They are EVIL. They influence kids by saying that 'American Idiot' is the best album, whereas it is the most popular.

Also, during the 2005 Awards, did anyone notice the 'interview' with Greenday about 'Jesus of Suburbia'? Wow, so they made a 12-minute song and a 9-minute song, "full of narratives" to Armstrong. So original.

I think votes for the Eagles are a little unfair.....I was taken (albeit unwillingly) to an Eagles concert at Wembley some while back and I have to say, I ended up enjoying it! Joe Walsh especially was good.

Ditto Michael Jackson he's done a few cracking songs...

................my vote went to Britney with Vanilla Ice close behind...

I can't believe Eagles are even included in this list.  They were and forever will be the best country-rock group ever.

The pop of the past few years has caused the most damage to music.  The Killers, Boy, Jet, Franz Ferdinand.  All of that crap.

Sucky Pop music, Money, Corporation, MTV and People with no talent!

Voted Britney Spears

I agree with this.MTV is awful, they usually choose Nirvana as the best rockband ever, and choose American Idiot and other ge(r)ms  as album of the year.

Vanilla Ice is a travesty to all music. The only good thing about his music is that he's SO FUNNY!!! He's so bad that he's hilarious!!

okay- pop culture and human nature has caused the most damage to music. Eveyone wants to be popular, so they just listen to whatever eveyone else does, and think it's the best because that's what is most popular. Not me though, I try to be not popular.

MJ has been in his life a musical genius, the eagles have done no damage, they are just not to your taste, and Britney is just a girlie who out grew the disney club, (like Christina) Vanilla Ice however, well, I STILL can not forgive him for sampling Bowie's under pressure way back in , what was it, '90, '91???

Hideous, absoloutly hideous, and I think it incouraged a whole heap of ripping off great classic pop to make drivel
