Good evening to all of you!

I'm a 15 year old dude from Finland. I got hooked up in prog about a year and a half ago, when I found Jethro Tull's "Aqualung" and Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" from our CD-shelf. And after that... Well you can guess. :) But the band which really got me into this was Rush. I found in the internet some guy who had written articles of different bands, for example Rush. And on the first line he had written that Rush is the best band in the galaxy. I decided to make some investigations, and I found a song called "A Passage to Bangkok". This song rocked, so I investigated some more. Then I found myself in the record shop, buying "2112". And there it started, I've become a total fan of this band. After that I've bought A Farewell to Kings, Counterparts, Moving Pictures and Test for Echo. Great albums. Some other great prog bands are the finnish YUP and Wigwam. Of course the veterans, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Mike Oldfield and King Crimson rock too.

Yeah - turdatulip!  (Sorry, my Finnish isn't so good).

Welcome anyway.  I wouldn't be me if I didn't throw in a pitch for Kansas - check out some samples under the band archives.  Also, very much agree TP on Gentle Giant and VDGG - you should easily love them.  Also, try out some newer stuff if you aren't already familiar with them (Fates Wrning, Mostly Autumn, Subterranean Masquerade, Symphony X) - that way when you get around to the old-fart archives of early prog you won't run screaming form the building from boredom.

Stay away from Triumph though - they're only here to try and suck in new meat who think this is a hair-band site.

Welcome here, friend!

I recommend you some good italian progrock album:

- Museo Rosenbach - Zarathustra

- Le Orme - Uomo di Pezza or Felona e Sorona

- Premiata Forneria Marconi - Per Un Amico or Storia di un Minuto

- Maxophone - omonimous album

- Locanda delle Fate - Forse le Lucciole Non Si Amano Più

just listen to some PA's samples...then tell me your opinion!

Gomurisu

You can do a LOT worse than RUSH. Everything from 2112 to the present is worth your time. Pay special attention of Neil Peart's lyrics. You will find a fantastic new world there. Oh, the music is pretty good also.

Don't forget YES, Genesis, & ELP for starters.

Many more excellent choices here for your listening pleasure.
