I like that song and most of the album too. Best bit is the solo where the guitar and what sounds like a harmonica play the solo together.

nice song – trevor rabin is all over it, though (he
wrote it) – however declaring that it "rocks" is a bit
steep... it's very AORish and has very little yes-traits.
in fact i think it is the worst song on the "big
generator"-album which i otherwise adore (hit me!)

Yes, I like that song, also the other Rabin hit single, The Rhythm Of Love.

And it rocks, yes, yes.

Yes, that is Chris Squire playing the harmonica.

actually, chris only mimes the solo in the video. it
was played by jimmy z (james zavala), who also
handled the horn parts on "almost like love" from the
same album. you might remember him from the
eurythmics ("missionary man").

I like the track. Apparently it was written for Stevie Nicks.

Posted By: Rainman

That's a pop song which a 'serious' fan may be ashamed to like...  All the way, I guess it was a good choice to put it in the beginning of the B-side of Big Generator. The rest of the songs there are less compromising so the whole album is beautiful. LWFW is as good as Heat Of The Moment by Asia or Land Of Confusion by Genesis...Bright although simple and synthy

Yeah, it was written for Stevie Nicks. It's a nice AOR song though and Trevor's vocal's are more prominent than Jon's. My favourite Big Generator track is Final Eyes closely followed by Shoot High Aim Low!

hmmm
i just discovered that Trevor Rabin, Jon Anderson and Chris Squire were all singing in that one song
i was quite suprised at my being oblivious to this, as i listen to it on a daily basis

Sorry, I've had to move this thread again. It should be in the recommendations/Currently listening to section.

That is where specific tracks or albums should be discussed.

Giddy up! Great song! I saw them do it in concert in 1998. One hell of a great show! Alan Parsons began the concert that night. Problem is; Parsons was only on stage 1 hour.  Otherwise; it was a great night, for sure.

Who ever would have thought, Alan Parsons would be an opening act for anyone??!! I guess that's what happens when you don't begin your career touring. And; then, later decide to. I don't know.

Not sure what tour it was. It was August 4th, 1998 at Mud Island - Memphis, TN. It was a great show. And; Steve Howe, and the gang were dialed in. Wakeman wasn't there, however. It was the Russian dude on keyboards - Igor, I think, is his name.

I'm 'quite sure' it was played,YES!

And; I think, I remember reading in the box set booklet, YES played their first 'live' show on August 4th, 1968. So; it was 30 years to the day, if that is all correct.

I must have been thinking of "Rythym of Love". Either way; a fantastic outdoor show! "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" was sweet. I remember Squire changed basses for that one. He is a great bassist!

Love will find a way is indeed a commercial song, but hey! A very good one!
Although I don't like Big Generator very much (it sounds too "plastic" compared to its predecessor) it was a great opener for a B-side! (with vinyl you had the opportunity to provide two openers instead of just one as it happens nowadays with CDs! )

Best songs on the album are - however - Rhythm of Love, Final Eyes and I'm running

No man, you're not asking for enlightment, because real enlightment caries also negative opinions, not everything is pink.

You are asking for backuping chorus of cherubs praising your opinion, probably you'll find some but most surely (Especially in a Rabin album/song) you're going to find negative opinions.

And that's why this forum exists, for us to talk and discuss about Prog Music and even not Prog as in this case.

If you want to read only good things about a band, you should ask in a fan club, but in a discussion forum you'll find positive and negative opinions about any band or song.

I saw Yes on OYE tour and saw the disgust with which Steve changed his beloved Gibson to an ordinary guitar to play riff of owner - and the middle part was actually played by Sherwood - be his name forgotten!! - but Steve added great solo in the ending part.

Love Will Find A Way has a very funny clip, especially with Tony Kaye part

After such great songs as "Love Will Find A Way" Jon decided that he has enough Trevor Rabin ruining his beloved band and left to create Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe

Come on! In my opinion Trevor Rabin brought some important added value to Yes.
First and foremost, he added a second lead voice (and a very good one, albeit more ordinary than Jon Anderson's), which is always a positive thing in a band! (Think about the Coverdale-Hughes era of Deep Purple)
Secondly, he helped them reach a wider audience by means of his composition contributions.

I know many of you are definitely against the "pop-ification" of progressive music: I am not such a purist, I do like when high quality music tries to reach a wider audience while maintaining high level composition skills.

And the Rabin-era Yes albums (with the possible exception of several sections of Union...although the weaker parts IMHO are the ones composed by the 'legacy' nucleus of Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe) DO contain high quality music!

Love Will Find a Way and Shoot High Aim Low are both good tracks. However, Jacaranda makes me cringe. Is this the same band that made 90125? Does anyone know what Talk is like? I've read widely different reviews.
