Hello!

I'm Paco (and still quite new here...), I like Prog.
But I have a problem...

I don't know what to listen to anymore...

Do you know something new for me?

I like:
- Kino
- Arena
- Genesis (old and new)
- Dream Theater
- Porcupine Tree
- Solar
- The Urbane

- Some Marillion (more Steve H, less Fish)
- Some Ayreon (the first CD of 'The Human Equation' for example)
- IQ ('The Seventh House' and 'Dark Matter', haven't tried any other albums)
- Muse (Absolution, haven't really tried any other albums (didn't really care actually))

I DON'T LIKE:

- Growling Metal
- Yes (sorry)

Can you help me to find new bands who fit in my interests?

Thanks

Thanks guys, I'll add them to my find-out-wether-I-like-this-band-or-not-list.

What I already can say about the bands you mentioned.

- Pain of Salvation: heard lots of good things about them, never heard anything by them
- Spock's Beard: I once heard something of it, didn't really like it, I'll give them a second chance
- Neil Morse: Some great songs I heard, I'll listen to it more. (Great there are christian progrockers)
- Pagan's Mind: never heard of it. I'll add it right away
- Vandenplas: Heard good things of this too
- Opeth: Damnation is good, and I liked the song 'The Drapery Falls' from Blackwater Park too, but the rest......
- King Crimson: heard lots of good things about them, never heard anything by them
- The Mars Volta: I don't know this one
- Pink Floyd: My dad likes this, I'll listen to it
- Gentle Giant: I heard of it
- Symphony X: it's like Dream Theater, right? I'm very curious
- Blackfield: GREAT, it's like Procupine Tree, with something extra.
- Rush: I'll ask my dad
- Riverside: Recently heard about them, I'll check them
- Camel: My dad hates it, I'll check it out
- Karmakanic: (A Genesis reverence there?) I'll check it out
- The Tangent: idem
- Flowerkings: idem

Thanks a lot guys!
And don't hesitate to tell me more about other bands! I'm ready to absorb all info I need.
Thanks again!

Why don't you try to make some job by yourself: read reviews on the bands you like, look at "Top 12 Rated albums in the same prog sub-genre" feature and so on?

I did, but that didn't really work for me.

People say that Arena sounds like Marillion. But I don't really think so.
They also say that Yes sounds like Genesis, but I can't understand.

If people see what my listening profile is they can connect that and see that there's more for me.

If you like DREAM THEATER, try LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT. It is practically DREAM THEATER, but with Tony Levin playing bass instead of John Myung, and no singer. If you like that and if you are ready for more instrumental music, try PLANET X (from DREAM THEATER former keyboard player, Derek Sherinian).

Since you like DREAM THEATER and PORCUPINE TREE, you will probably like RUSH heavier stuff too. Try RUSH, and if you like it, maybe you will like THE MARS VOLTA.

Try SPOCK'S BEARD, if you like it, try TRANSATLANTIC and THE FLOWER KINGS.

Since you like DREAM THEATER and ARENA, you will probably enjoy QUEENSRŸCHE. "Operation: Mindcrime" is a good start.

Handle KING CRIMSON with some care. Try their first album "In the Court of the Crimson King", then maybe "Lizard", then "Red".
