Although the band The Black Mages is basically Nobuo Uematsu (composer
of almost every Final Fantasy music to date) reprosposing all his Final
Fantasy compsitions to a much more rock and metal approach, but being
that his style in writing is very symphonic, plus at times there's an evident
progressive proclivity that can be felt from this material, would you consider
it prog?
I think it's not a bad idea.

I would say they are prog, barely but yeah sure why not
