ELO? no, they'll never get on the Archives.

Anyway, Wishbone Ash should be here for the prog rock classic "Argus".

Wishbone Ash and Magnum have been discussed; I'm very much for the inclusion of both personally.

But Steely Dan? Not prog at all, imo.

Seriously guys, read between the lines. I'm pretty sure ClemofNazareth already knew that the bands are in ...

I did WJ.

But just in case he was being serious I thought I should let Clem know.

Seriously though, Wishbone Ash is as deserving of being here as Babe Ruth or Argent or Uriah Heep or Tempest or Uncle Dirtytoes (), and they're all here.

I don't believe I've ever heard any Magnum, so can't comment on them.  As far as Steely Dan, this subject has been brought up repeatedly and I agree with the consensus that, while their music is certainly of the highest quality and I own several albums myself, I don't see how they could possibly be construed as progressive in any way that term has been used on this site.

Triumph, on the other hand, seems to be my personal cross to bear .

Well, both Triumph and ELO are placed under Prog Related, which provides a very large umbrella under which all sorts of bands can be added.

Yeah, yeah.  I've heard the rationale before, and it was the subject of a rather enlightening thread a while back ( http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12424&KW=Triumph - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12424& amp;KW=Triumph ).

Sorry I brought it up actually, but I suppose I'll go ahead and finish my thought.  It isn't the music that annoys me about Triumph, it's their very chauvinistic lyrics that I find totally inexcusable and out of place here.

But anyway, now I've totally wandered off topic, but hopefully at least redeemed myself by bumping ridingoncamel's topic back up for consideration .
