I'll start by making an example:

http://www.youtube.com/w/Explosions-In-The-Sky---live-in-Seattle-2003?v=lwizCG4LY4k&search=explosions%20in%20the%20sky - Explosions in the sky bootleg live

the only site I know for this are youtube.com  and video.google.com

So, if you find something interesting in sites like these ones then post it in here for all of us to see

Okay, on youtube.com so far ive found quite a bit, a musical box video (found by searching for genesis) a suppers ready video, I know what I like (BAAAD quality haha), Firth of Fifth (!!! I am squealing like a fat little school girl!!!!!) and a 40 something minute long genesis video from 76' ... plus a few other goodies, hawkwind - silver machine, and a link to a myspace genesis page with a british documentary on the band and pink floyd... it was like a top 10 of prog thing... reeally cool... oh and I found those other genesis videos by searching for 'genesis live' and 'suppers ready'... aahhH! I have to watch... ill put up the myspace page with the other videos

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewpro file&friendID=37416236

watch all these videos... because they are mega cool... and search for more, but you should be specific in the search, since I only got ONE result for just typing genesis (only 1 that was actually genesis)

oh and all those genesis ones are on youtube.com

Err... sorry bout that... I dont... know... how.  I know I should... but Im not really up on this stuff. Sorry. Oh well, it really aint that hard. Just go to www.youtube.com and in the search.. ya know.. Genesis stuff..

or someone could tell me how and i can put up the link... and by the way theres somthing messed up about the firth of fifth video.. might just be my crap computer or connection but the video and audio seems.. really... I dunno.. unsynced? .. maybe its not authentic or something, but the musical box one and suppers ready one are both very good, especially the musical box one.. fantastic. Havent watched the live76' yet.. I know what I like is pretty good, but kinda short and bad quality..

so if anyone can help me with the linky bits.. then ill put em up right away. I tried using the hyperlink thing but it doesnt seem to want to work, at least not for me.

again... i just have to say.. im watching the firth of fifth one... there.. really is just some serious messupedness about it... like some parts look like theyve been reversed and replayed ... i dunno if someone did some crazy editing hackjob on it or whatever...

oh and I watched that 'return of the giant hogweed' one too... i believe its done on the same set as the one the musical box was done in. ... its pretty good to... ah, up until tonight i have never seen any actual footage of genesis... (at least not that i can remember) this is really great.

I don't know how to explain well how to use the hyperlink since I have some troubles finding words in english but  you can also copy the location on where you saw it and write the directions in here.

Alright, thankyou. Im watching the genesis live in '76 one now... must be from a movie or doc. or something, since it is quite long (42 min i believe).. it has some pretty good songs in it too... so far ive heard 'i know what I like', 'fly on a windshield', and 'the carpet crawlers'... its pretty good too.. phil is sufficiently beardy, etc... playing with bill bruford.. it aint bad. My favourite vid is still the musical box (the first one ive seen tonight),... it really was great... except for the damn puzzle thing cutting into the footage... ahg!

EEK! The sound stopped working on the videos for me!! Is anyone else having this problem?

ah, nevermind... turn out i just had wayyy too many youtube pages open or something... theyre workin again... and those ELP videos are awesome!

I made it !

  • read the video until the end, then do not close your browser's window
  • In the folder "...Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files" you'll find a big file with a name like "get_video?video_id=RqTRNC05Cww" (this is an example)
  • Copy this file and paste in another directory
  • Rename it with vlc extension (e.g. : Rush-limelight.vlc)
  • Then download and install VLC Media Player (it's free), only VLC can read your file.

To be honest I don't use any other players. VLC is my default player anyway.
Just tried Media player 10(?) and it didn't work, media player classic probably works though.

here the link to a charming and mysterious video by Amon Düül 2, to the song "All the Years Round" from their album "Carnival in Babylon".

http://www.wdr.de/cgi-bin/mkram?rtsp://ras01.wdr.de/rockpalast/krautrockpalast04/video_amon_dueuel_ii_320.rm - http://www.wdr.de/cgi-bin/mkram?rtsp://ras01.wdr.de/rockpala st/krautrockpalast04/video_amon_dueuel_ii_320.rm

it looks as if this video was taken for some TV-documentation about the Düüls. or perhaps they were just freaking around

This one is a MUST-HAVE! Genesis playing "In the cage"! Not very good quality but just the same:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qkhKbk70SM&search=genesis%20live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qkhKbk70SM&search=genesi s%20live

I found some more excerpts from The Lamb live, but with very bad quality and made mixing videos (and sometimes pictures) from different concerts with the sound from a different one (just write "genesis live" in youtube to watch them)

And if you want to have LOTS of videos from The Who, just write the band's name in youtube.com

ENJOY!

for those who didnt know:

http://www.fileleecher.com/ - http://www.fileleecher.com/

copy this:

into the field on the website

rename the file into .flv, as being told on the website

Posted By: chamberry

I foud an even easier way to download videos from the websites:

- Go to this website http://javimoya.com/blog/download-videos/ - www.javimoya.com/blog/download-videos/ and type the location of the video in the "Download the videos" section. Don't bother trying to change the extention of the file because it wont matter...

- After you finished downloading the video the next thing you need to do is downlad the program called "CinemaForge" that is located in the "Changing video's formats" section from the link I mentioned...

-And after you download this program you can check out how to use it by clicking in the big "F" in the previous section.

With "CinemaForge" you can change any type of video file or even .PHP files into .MPEG, .FLV and a lot more.

Enjoy!

That MDK video is simply a joy to watch and listen to. Much more enjoyable than the album, in my opinion. Proves that music is meant to be heard played live. Pity it's not full-screen video. Still, great.

sometimes, prog rock is really f**king bad live

some of it is good, genesis definitely owns that category

but some of this stuff i couldnt help but laugh if a saw it live, the music is great, but these bands have trouble with there live shows, prog rock needs a more fruity stage show

prog rock is a visual music, seeing it live kills that exprience for me

strange, but in my opinion Genesis is one of the worst live bands ever. they stick way to close to the studio versions of their songs in live concerts. why should one go and watch that? I mght as well put on the album at home and save the money. there may happen a lot on stage during the concerts, but musically nothing happens at all. I just have to yawn when Tony Banks repeats his solo from "Apocalypse in 9/8" note for note

yeah, but it is their stage design and the way Gabriel gets in character, all of that stuff is rehearsed, because it is meant to be seen live, like theater
