I received this biography from reviewer CGH and made some adjustments. The reviewer informed me that he had gotten it directly from band guitarplayer which is probably correct due to the detailed information.

EXSIMIO BIOGRAPHY

"EXSIMIO is a predominantly instrumental heavy prog rock band, that have some vocals used primarily for effect (In Spanish), two modern guitars, and what seems like Chapman Stick play, along with creative, percussive styled drumming to make a powerful progrock statement. Exsimio are intent on playing with a relentless intensity, each composition shows the band is set in a certain sound that is created by the synergy of the members. Dual guitars and the absence of keyboards make for a raw, but thick sound. The players work together to create multi-layered rhythmic patterns that counter harmonize one another...." (review by Prognosis specialized web site).

EXSIMIO a band from Chile formed in 1995 by Carlos Perez (bass guitar), Claudio Corcione (guitar), Juan Ignacio 'Inak' Varela (guitar) and Fernando Jaramillo (drums). The band recorded their first EP with 4 songs live recorded. It was a limited edition and mainly for broadcasting.

In January 1999, the band starts to record their first album. An independent production with 11 songs and named "Exsimio". The recording and mixing was financed by the band and the funds for the mastering and the edition of copies were given by FONDART - Fonds For The Development Of Chilian Arts And Culture. FONDART funds are only given to a few amount of projects, and the selection is made by a specialized committee. This important goal was made by EXSIMIO with a main purpose: to project the band in the national and international market.

In November 1999, EXSIMIO was invited to Los Angeles, California to play at the opening of the Julie Rico Art Galery. The band gave interviews to La Opinión, the most important Latin newspaper in USA, Al Borde Magazine and Tu Musica, music tv program at Channel 54 where the video clip of the song 'Cigoto' - the band first single - was presented. Back in Chile, EXSIMIO presented their first album live. The CD started to be distributed by Musicland label through Chile and Argentina, and received excellent critics by the specialized press. This same year the band created their own web site, www.exsimio.cl.

Later the band received a call from Mexico, telling that EXSIMIO would be part of the 5th version of the BajaProg Fest, one of the most important progressive music festival around the world. EXSIMIO would be representing Chile, togheter with bands from France, Germany, USA, Spain, Poland, Indonesia, Hungary and Mexico. The band went to the festival receiving flattering words from the local press and putting EXSIMIO within the 5 best bands of the festival. The band also received an invitation to play in Chihuahua with the Italian band FINISTERRE. Then the band went to the University of Baja California to play with a local band called ARIA. The presence of EXSIMIO in Mexico, would open the door so that two new Chilean bands would be invited to the Festival in the year 2002.

Back in Chile EXSIMIO appeared in the press as "The new conquerors of Mexico" (Rockaxis Magazine and web site), the band also played for a live recording on Radio Futuro in the studio of the radiostation, and later was invited to play at the Celebration Concert of the 12th Aniversary of the station, next to other national bands and in front of thousands of people. During this period EXSIMIO appeared in important foreing magazines such as Acid Dragon-France, Margen-Spain, Progressive Newsleter-Germany and Nobody's Land-Italy, among others, and in a lot of web sites specialized in progressive rock music. Likewise EXSIMIO is distributed by Mylodon Records-Chile, Cuneiform Records-USA, Musea Records-France, Lizard-Italy and Record Runner-Brazil.

In March 2002 EXSIMIO is awarded as the Best Chilean Vanguard Band by the specialized music magazine and web site Rockaxis. On the same month, the band recieved an invitation to participate at the second version of Bahia Prog festival, rock festival that takes place in Cadiz, Spain.

Back in July 2001, EXSIMIO received US$ 5,000.00 from the goverment of Chile in order that the band could go to the festival in Spain and also to do an European tour on November 2002, including Italy, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Germany and finishing on Spain.

Before going on Tour the band performed at the Second Vanguard Festival on the Municipal Theater of Valparaiso, Chile and in an Alive Transmision Concert for the University of Chile Radio Station program: Chile Musica en Vivo. Back in Chile the band opened a Concert for the Mythic Italian Band IL BALLETTO DI BRONZO that was touring on Chile and also played together with the famous bass player Jorge Campos (CONGRESO, FULANO) and his drum & bass project MACHI.

In December 2005 the band started to record their second LP called "Carbono 14" financed again by the Chilean goverment FONDART and to be distributed in Europe by Musea Records.
