Yet another useless list for all of us anal probes out there...

Who do you have the most of in your collection, with double/box sets counting as one cd? I am assuming most of you will have prog stuff at the top, but I don't (not that I wouldn't like to), for me, it ends up being

17: Elvis Costello

16: Neil Young

13: Tom Waits, Van Morrison, Springsteen, Miles Davis and Joni Mitchell (each)

12: Loudon Wainwright III and Pink Floyd (ditto)

10: Todd Rundgren

I was actually sort of surprised...

I can't give you exact numbers but I own all of Gentle Giant's studio albums on CD (well, my copy of Free Hand and Interview got destroyed, but that's another story), plus a fair number of unofficial releases, the DVD, a copy of Octopus on vinyl, blah-di-blah... I own a lot of Gentle Giant. That's all I say.

we have all official albums of Hawkwind and Peter Hammill. which in the case of Hawkwind are 41 CDs (or 42, counting a CD which contains 4 EPs of Hawkwind). this includes a special CD available for Hawkwind passport owners only ((Live 1997). in the case of Peter Hammill they add up to 40

Kings of my collection are the Grateful Dead, with about a hundred titles on the shelf, including solo albums from various members and several band-related releases, and still counting two 12 CD box-sets as one piece each.

That could entitle me to be a Deadhead, I suppose...

Other runners for the prize (with not much of a chance, dare I say...) are Anthony Phillips and Steve Hackett, with about 15 titles each, mainly because I found many of their CDs in the used section of my favourite music shop, and so I bought them.

CD's are great, very versatile and tranportable - but man I love playing my old LP's!

41 Hawkwind CD's!!! wow - I would never of guessed they had that many. I still spin my 30 year old copy of 'Warrior on the Edge of Time', I have the original release with the fold out album cover - kind of puts the CD to shame...

tortellino, I believe you. I have a friend who has what must amount to a couple of hundred live performances of the Grateful Dead, it's quite unbelievable actually.

The thing is, all he listens to is the Grateful Dead and Phish, he is a bit anal that way. I've tried getting him into other music (prog) because he is most of the way there, but I've had no success.

And I really enjoy filling the air with the Dead every once in a while but come on - how many different versions of Dark Star do I need to listen to...

Wow! Last time I counted I had over 3,000 albums on vinyl and 400 CDs/DVDs. Idon`t keep them in any particular order so it`s almost impossible to count how many I have from an individual band but I do know I have a lot of the following:

Omega, Focus( all ), King Crimson, Gentle Giant ( all ), Grobschnitt, Guru Guru, John McLaughlin, Miles Davis, Jane, Hoelderlin ( all ), Novalis, Elvis Presley, Black Sabbath ( all Ozzy ), Rammstein ( all ), Larry Coryell, Jean-Luc Ponty, Monty Python, wow! I could go on and on. I`ve been collecting music since 1973 and there`s stuff in there I`ve even forgotten I have. I just discovered I had a rare Brain Festival album I bought new in 1978 and only played  a few times. I`m going to burn it on to a CD and keep it safe!

Yeah, I didn't count bootlegs, but I don't really have very many anyway. But, I guess the numbers in general point to the actual faves of each person (the kings, if you will), so I guess that is all that counts.

And all of you that say 'all' next to the artist, too lazy!
