Yes,the old band out of the netherlands. 3 great albums in the mid 1970`s. They are never discussed even though their first two efforts were very strong. Think yes meets Mahavishnu. Great guitar, bass and mellotron.Instead of dragging out those same tired classics out why not try Finch. Every bit as good as Focus even if they don`t yodel. Maybe it`s some of the best music to come out of the mid 70`s in my estimation.

I'll definitely check that out. Is it fairly easy to find?

It should be fairly easy to find. A diamond in the rough. Probably not going to be much response to this thread so thanks for showing interest.

I heard one of their songs on the radio once and quite liked it. Don't own any of their albums though.

Dear progheads, don't forget Finch their 2-CD entitled The Making Of ..Galleons Of Passion/Stage 76 (in 1999 released by Dutch Pseudonym Records). CD-2 delivers Finch at their best playing the previously unreleased epic track Necronomicon and all their great compositions live with excellent soli    !

Well, to my memory there is no DVD at all! I have done an interview with all Finch members in order to write the liner notes for the 2-CD but nobody ever mentioned a DVD, also not the record company boss. And I cannot trace something about a DVD on Prog Archives.... how about this DVD? Anyone knows more?

Well, at least my mistake led to a few more posts about a great band which doesn`t get discussed. I will be looking for their 1999 2 cd effort. A little confused how the 1999 effort about the making of their third album{ which was not as solid as the 1st two albums} is their highest rated album.

Good luck with your quest and tell us about your experience if you succeed to find it, OK?

Ah, Finch. I stumbled across Glory of the Inner Force and Beyond Expression around 9 months ago. Pretty good.

I totally agree with the previous persons. Finch is a great band and they deserve much more attention. Every prog-lover should own the first two albums !!

I am glad to see others like this great band from the 70`s. I wish at least one of the albums was on the top 100. Since I see you are from the netherlands I wondered what you think of alquin.?

from reading your review it sounds like music I would enjoy.I am presently listening to triangle for the first time. Will finch ever get back together? I do like alquin because of the jazzy feel to their music. Does alquin have a meaning in dutch?

If you are new to Alquin and love some Canterbury flavoured music, then you should get the first two albums (luckily these albums are released on 1 CD). Especially the second, "Mountain Queen" is a great recording with the outstanding track "The Dance".

The chances for a Finch reunion are very small, I think. But maybe we can start an action to get Finch on the road again. In an interview ( http://www.prog-nose.org/nederlands/interviews/finch_intervi ew.htm - http://www.prog-nose.org/nederlands/interviews/finch_intervi ew.htm , in dutch however) Van Nimwegen said he would consider a performance on Progfest or Baja Prog... so who knows.
