I was expecting that nobody knows...

It sounds good according to the Allmusic review (but they are not very reliable).

The original Mushroom released a so-so album in around 1973 - it was a mixture of Prog with some jigs and reels thrown in.  There's a big gap before the new lot so they're probably not connected.

If you mean Mushroom that band with Early One Morning, I do.
Excellent Folk-Prog Irish band, very unknown (it seems), King of Alba their best song. An excellent adition to your collection.

I think you mean Mushroom form San Fran. They are a strange little band. Their first album "Analogue Hi-Fi Surprise" was done with mostly analogue keyboards. The album "Foxy Music" is a bit like a retro lounge music album, but still quite good. My fave is "Glazed Popems". A 2 disc live show that is equal parts Jam Band, Psychedelic, Kraut style jams, and fusion. Quite a laid back, and sometimes dark sounding set. "Compared To What" Has some interesting remixes by Kraut legends Faust.

Yeah, very confusing these two bands of different periods. I have the band you're talking about (I think) my album is Glazed Popums. Really good stuff.Very retro sound. Funky grooves and weird space jams. The era issue is also compounded because no release dates are shown on the disc.(Mine at least). I've never heard the 70's band of the same name, but whenever I try to research this group, it's always the old band that comes up.

I think Mushroom should definately be part of the prog archives, their sound is so compatable to both old and new bands alike.

Does it sounds 70's like?
I'm a a little afraid cause they say "indie rock" in Allmusic.

Mushroom are very retro sounding most of the time. There is a great interview with Patrick from Mushroom at  www.krautrocknet.com./magazine/features/mushroom%20interview .htm  where he talks about his Prog influences. I guess they are "Indie -Rock" because they only release their albums on small labels. But no, they are more Retro than Indie.

It says "Jazz" on emusic.com ... sounds like Jazz-Rock/Fusion with heavy Avant-Garde tendencies to me.
