The new OSI is out released, any opinions?

I was kinda slightly disapointed, not because it is a bad album, but because the style is closer to Chroma Key and there is less guitars and bass. It's something between Chroma Key - Dead Air for Radios and the first OSI album.

It seems to grow on me a bit after a while though.

I've only heard 1 track off this and liked it enough that I'm searching for a copy. This was the 1st I'd ever heard of OSI.

haven't got it yet but i managed to listen to a few tracks – it seems to be somewhat stripped down compared to the debut and, yes, it ist probably closer to kevin moore's CHROMA KEY work – which is not a bad thing because i absolutely adore these three albums. therefore – on probation – a from me!

I'm slightly disappointed as well...but it's a solid release.

I miss Sean Malone's contribution, I find the new guy Joey Vera (I think that's his name, from Fates Warning) is really weak IMO.  The first two songs aren't too great either...the rest of the album however has some nice sounds going for it, then again I'm a big synth fan.

Yeah, I hardly noticed the bass. I have no problems with Vera in Fates Warning, but the bass on the first OSI album really stand out, maybe Malone also contributed on the writing?

You can listen to the album on Napster - they even have the limited edition. I like it very much, but you have to be a fan of electronic music to like it. Portnoy appears on the album only as a session drummer, he recorded the drums during one week, and the lyrics/compositions are dominated by Kevin Moore - although the influences of Matheos are also very clear.

So this is in fact a Moore/Matheos album.

if it's close to Dead Air... I will be much dissapointed...

I didn't really enjoyed the debut either, it was ok but nothing special IMO

I was slightly disappointed with it at first, but it is growing on me.I think it is heavier than the first album, and that is a big plus for me.But Portnoy's drum work really doesn't grab me on this album, and I think Moore and Matheos went way overboard with the programming.Sean Malone not being on the album was a let down.I think Joey Vera is a decent bassist but he is just not in Malone's league.

I like Fates Warning
I like Chroma Key

I don't really like OSI.  Odd, but I don't know what it is.  I liked Kevin Moore's role on the two FW albums on which he played...just not these OSI albums.  A few good tracks between them but largely just dull material.

I agree, I think they definitely made it too elektronic, Chroma Key would have been a better channel for that.

I think it's good album, but it's definitely more Chroma Key than the previous OSI which is shame because the first OSI was different and cool.

I've not heard it yet Confused, but I thick their first album is mediocre (3 stars)
